Came upon some C923 ECBP at Costco in Plano earlier today. Have heard really really good things so excited to crack it open tonight. It's over 13.5 year old juice and 133 proof. Not too shabby for MSRP ($70)
Wait, Texas Costco can sell liquor?
WB liquor stores attached to Costco stores…… Most people just say Costco in Plano, etc.
Tried westward cask strength tonight. Really tasty. It is unique, not the typical if you are looking for a $100 bottle. It is worth it.

VABC had a 20% off any "American Whiskey" over 40 dollars today. Local store had a few bottles of Bakers, 4 roses small batch select, and bowman in stock. Needless to say my bourbon budget for the month is blown.
Snagged this Weller 12 for $39 on Monday, so decided to do a little 10&12 year flight tonight.

It was not but there were only a couple left. I think I was there around 3 so you never know. It was Costco east Plano, btw. Off 75

Last night the KC12 was one and the regular ER was two for me. Although normally when I have the two ERs together the SP is usually the winner.

Agreed. It's becoming a lot easier to find since the change in distributor too. I've been seeing them at Twin Liquors and Specs all around Austin the past few weeks at msrp. I've been grabbing them for Christmas gifts.
I was thinking of doing a blind tasting tonight with the wife and some friends. What size pour would you do? I'm thinking 4-5 bottles, she was saying 1oz pour per bottle. Also should I stay around the same proof so that it's not too obvious or just mix it up.
For a blind tasting for 4/5 adults. I'd go .5oz.

No more than 4 pours. Imo…three is perfect. You can taste the 3 in one order, take a break/have some water, then taste them in opposite order.
First sip is always a bit of fools gold bc of fresh pallet. This will leave room for a "have a full pour of your fav" at the end.
Over 3 diff bottles and it's get hard. You mouth gets numb to the tasting notes, etc.
Of course if you're just out to get bourbon drunk, then ignore all the above lol

4 max, 0.5oz pours. Will allow time for everyone to hang out afterwards and discuss them/have another drink and some food.
I'll 2nd this. I did six in a flight the other night and it made it very difficult to pick a winner. 3 is best, 4 max. And good call on the "pour of your favorite"

Nothing to see here but brisket, bourbon and good times. Hosted a little get together last night with the boys. Passed around some good bottles and shared some good stories. This is what bourbon is all about.

Found a 4 Roses Single Barrell OESO for under $100 at a small shop in south DFW. 9 years 5 months, 110.8 proof. Not the oldest 4R pick but I really enjoyed it.
Nice find! I hope it's a good one!
Quite possibly the best whiskey bar in the southern hemisphere...
Was there in July of last year, definitely a cool spot.
