Before I cross post on the trade thread, I just wanted to see if there are any Houston folks that missed out on any of the TA picks.

I won't get into it, but needless to say I've been told to dial the brown back bigly by the doc and still have most of mine unopened and want to get them to folks who missed out the first time at cost.

I tried going back to see what the original prices were so please correct me if I'm wrong:

Wilderness Trail - 68
RC Double Barrel - 44
RC Spanish Oak - 65
New Riff - 65
Buffalo (one pour missing) - 30?

Happy to meet around HTX if anyone is interested. Will post on trade thread too as not to gum this one up.

The RHF was a really nice pour and a great way to cap off our 18th anniversary!!

Really hope for your sake that RHF was not how you capped off your 18th anniversary.
Always the most goodest

Picked up an ECTB yesterday from a local mom and pop shop at retail. Excited to give it a go this weekend.

Curious your thoughts. I got my first bottle a couple weeks ago, and I did not enjoy my first pour at all. Felt very flat and overly oaked. But I will say, this is my first time to really experience a difference in the neck pour vs my subsequent pours. While I still don't love it and wouldn't drop $65 on it again, the oak has mellowed out significantly. Glad I grabbed one and I know many people who love it, so always interesting to see how palates differ. Hope you enjoy!

This was my exact experience with Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond. So many people hyped it up on YouTube/message boards. I bought a bottle and it had a TERRIBLE neck pour. I almost poured it out. However it opened up and I can drink it now, but I won't buy it again. I have friends though that love it. Me personally I don't get the hype. I blind tested it against 5 BiBs all at lower price points vs HH and it came in dead last for me. Really proves to me that peoples taste can differ that much .

Specs in SA had big display of it as you walk in. $68 maybe. How is it?

I felt the same way about HH BiB, but one of my buddies love it. We both love ECTB though. I always try to have a backup bottle.

Same, HH BiB is alright but I won't be buying another for myself, maybe as a gift or to have if someone is over and really wants to try it.

Handle of WT101 is always on the bar

OF1920 and Rare Breed are my choices for an always on the shelf sipper

everything else in my bar is allocated or at least tough to find in Houston.

Good choices. 4 Roses Small Batch Select is a few dollar more but fits the bill imo

Sure.

For the WT101 my go to is with peychauds over nugget ice. Especially in the warmer months.

Heck, I really like Benchmark Bonded or Full Proof.

I always have WT101, Benchmark Bonded and Full Proof, and generally Makers Cask Strength on hand. All neat. Those are all incredibly solid bottles for the price, and I don't hunt too much any more. I also really enjoy Pikesville Rye, Blue Note Uncut Unfiltered, and Four Roses small batch and single barrel in that price point. All are very available. Knob Creek 12 year 100 proof can be found for slightly more, and I'll be the outlier who says I enjoy Old Forester 1910 more than 1920. I love 1920, but the fullness of 1910 without the harshness of 1920 is hard to beat. SLB on YouTube recently did a blind tasting of bourbons in that price range and 1910 took the cake. If Belle Meade Cask Strength Reserve was still around, I'd be their biggest advocate. That was my favorite readily available bourbon. It was outstanding.

Guess I got a slightly good deal at 54.99 then. I'm gonna pop it open on Saturday. Been cutting out weekday drinking. The Ags give me plenty to drink about on Saturdays

Russels Reserve 10 Year

$40, always available and a fantastic pour.

I also really enjoy Knob Creek SiB 9 year which is easy to find, but I think it's over that $50 price range. I don't know honestly because I replace it when it's gone.

I wasn't a fan of the benchmark full proof, but for the cost and at that proof point, it's definitely worth a try. I can't really think of anything that comes close to the proof at that price point besides OGD114 (still 11 proof under) which is what I would choose.

Big fan of that one as well. Haven't had anything from High West I didn't like.
