Only once all of the secondary bros stop posting them over and over again with no bites and realize the market is getting saturated

What is a bottle that sits on the shelf that you passed numerous times, but when you finally bought it and had it, you were happily surprised?

For me it was the belle meade cask strength reserve. That was the older version though

EW BiB was mine. Now it's always on the shelf

Honestly going back a bit.. the RC Spanish Oak. I had a *bad* experience with RC early on and i avoided it like the plague... but then after I heard about our barrel pick, I gave it a whirl and well the rest is history.

Old Ezra Barrel strength, very good sipper

You and me both. I heard a bad review of the Spanish Oak some how and passed on it for months it seems like. They busted it out at the first pick and everyone was blown away haha

Picked up the SW Malted Straight Rye Whiskey in Katy last week and really enjoy it.

and yes, BT is a staple in my home bar

And for those months you were passing on it I was gleefully sipping away!

Specs has/had a store pick of Treaty Oak Ghost Hill at 116+ abv that I was always eyeing because the color was dark like the Spanish oak and cowboy, finally pulled the trigger a while back and was glad I did. Tried a couple other picks at lower proof (111) and just wasn't the same. I did find some more 116 juice so have a couple in reserve.

On the other end of the spectrum, Trail's End was catching my eye and eventually pulled the trigger to try something new... garbage, gave it away. Live and learn!

I saw the Architect on the shelf at Specs today, but it wasn't a store pick. Is there a significant difference? Is it better than the barrel strength toasted?

Stopped at Specs in CS today and there was some Buffalo Trace on the shelf with a limit 1 tag. Bizarre times we live in.

To be honest, this will be my first time trying any Penelope product. I keep seeing people here say great things about it. Figured I'd pull the trigger on it.

It's MGP with some kind of barrel finish - typically pretty good stuff

Architect is solid. Definitely would recommend the toasted barrel strength if you decide to take another swing at them.

I just had this last weekend and it was quite good.

Sip slowly and savor the good times, we never know when it's time for us as individuals or those we care about.

Is ECBP a similar tasting profile to the EC small batch? I'm not a fan of the small batch, but always see how amazing the barrel proof is. I recently passed on one and second guessing that decision. Thought I'd ask in case I run across another one.

The ECBP is all 8-12 years and around 118 - 140 proof. I find it pretty consistent besides the proof range.

EC is mostly 4 yr I believe and 94. Totally different bottle.

Negative, all EC SB is at least 8 years. All ECBP used to be at least 12 until this recent batch. Then there are the ECBP SiBs which are 8-11.

The EC 94 is all 8 years?
Thought it was younger.

When was the last year the ECBP were guaranteed 12?
