I picked one up for my coworker, but passed on it for myself due to the price ($107). Ended up getting me and my wife the Maker's 2023 release and EHTsmall batch for the same price. Hopefully I made the right decision on that one.

I know many of y'all are looking for specific dump dates on Blanton's. Came across a FB group created for helping with that. Haven't joined personally, but figured I'd share.

FYI you can email Buffalo Trace and ask if a specific date was ever made.

Thankfully ABC stores are a gun free zone, so Im sure ill be fine. In all seriousness I'm not one to really spend time on thinking about that kind of stuff but i damn sure won't be going to pick my bottles at a busy time of day.

Reading the comments on Reddit people are ****ing pissed. I don't have facebook/twitter but i assume it is probably worse in some of the groups there. Rightfully so. I try to think how i would feel i i wasn't the beneficiary of the mistake and I'm sure i would be as well. That being said some of the stuff like having the state police investigate all of the winners or the veiled threats to the winners is a bit over the top.

I guess the one good thing about this screw up is that Va ABC at least admits their mistakes and there is some level of transparency. It certainly wouldn't be hard to create a better system compared to the process described in the article.

The surrealness of it all is what really gets to me. I'm not someone who would be considered lucky and given the situation it just makes me laugh to think about it.

Blanton's retail price at Spec's is now around $75 after tax when you pay cash.

Is there any chance at finding a bottle of weller 12 year for retail price? I've been looking for awhile in the lubbock area with no luck.

They typically hit twice a year - I would expect it in the next month or two. When they hit, you'll have somewhere around 20-30 minutes to hit every liquor store in town or it'll be gone until the next drop.

W12 will drop a few times a year. The best thing to do to is form a relationship with a couple employees at your usual spots. Couple mom and pops or big box stores like Twin Liquors, Specs or Total Wine. That way they can hold on for you in the back.

Not everyone has time or the job that lets them be at store in 20 mins. Best to have at least a couple guys you know at the store

Don't expect to find W12 on the shelf at a TW. It was in the allocated options for their drawing last month.

Haven't seen any W12 around since the huge drop last summer around August.
