I don't know if others are experiencing the same, but it seems like the new distribution system is backfiring a bit. Previously, the liquor stores in my area (Liberty Hill) rarely had allocated bottles and they always complained that the big box stores got them. Now, almost every one of them has a shelf full of allocated bottles at significantly more than secondary.

Instead of these bottles going to Specs, TW, etc and being sold at retail and then being flipped on secondary, they now just sit on the shelf at the local shops for ridiculous prices.

Unfortunately, they're only going to stay there as long as people are willing to pay the premium. So when that one person walks in and decides that paying over secondary is a good idea, the owner is then justified in pricing things that way and will continue to do so. It's exactly what some people were concerned about, or that the small shops would only sell the allocated stuff to their buddies.

It's a fine pour. My buddy provided me a sample. But at $179 plus tax, I will be passing on this release. You may really like it, but just not for me.

Every Spanish Oak I have had so far has been an excellent pour. I would grab one sooner rather than later. RC will not be doing another Spanish Oak release.

When you say RC won't be doing another Spanish Oak release, are you saying what's left of the SO that is currently on the shelves is the last of the SO we'll ever see, or will they release some of the remaining/ longer aged barrels of SO in the future??

Or are the last few barrels they have left of the SO going to go to private picks in the future?

There were 14 barrels of Spanish Oak left. We got one and the other 13 will be going to stores as picks or other bourbon groups. All have been claimed and will probably be gone within a couple months.

What ever is currently in the distribution channels or sitting on the shelves is it.

Buddy texted me a pic from the Specs in Plano showing about 15 bottles of Col EH Taylor BIB. Went to two locations by me. One of them had two bottles left so I snagged that. They had a few bottles of Eagle Rare at retail too. Going back at 10am and hope they have one left.

It was. My sister works nearby and stopped in after work but they were already gone by then.
