Initial thoughts on JD 12 from a couple of us:

Nose: Stagg jr/cherry (nose was amazing)
Palate: MGP/corn
Finish: Here is where it let us down. Bitter with a slightly medicinal aftertaste for me. I think my medicinal is closer to a bitter note actually.

I'll come back to it in about a week. It drank great at 107 proof! I'll say it's more flavorful than Weller 12 that's for sure.

I'd buy this once a year for $90 but I think this is a $60 bottle. Oh and it's only a 700ml bottle!

Thanks for the sample! I agree it was nothing special. It didn't suck but didn't stand out either. It's tater bait…At least this iteration. For drinking I'd pour JD SiBBP over this any time.

It's their annual special release like the Coy HIll and SBBP rye before it. It's frigging delicious but isn't getting the hype of the others since it's a single malt whiskey.

It's pretty disgusting in my opinion. Not a huge single malt fan In general, but this one is pretty bad. There's a reason there's pretty much no secondary value. I'd trade it if you have a chance.

I haven't had it but bought one and traded it for a Blood Oath 8 plus $40 - I love BO8!

I guess that is some secondary value. But it's still half of any of the other JD special releases… because it's gross

This is a very valid point. Liking Garrison Brothers pretty much calls into question any other opinions on whiskey. Similarly to liking Balcones.

It's MGP juice bottled in Bridgeport, TX. I've had a few bottles and thought they were good. The bottling experience at their place in Bridgeport is fun.

Edit: Not drunk, apparently I signed up at 9:40am haha. But I also didn't realize this was MGP juice and not their Texas distillate, so I'm glad I signed up.

This is where you lose me as a result of liking Garrison Brothers... I just don't believe any whiskey distilled in Texas can be very good. Best I've tried is some Still Austin products, and even still, I'd rather drink Wild Turkey Rare Breed (or honestly even WT 101). Our water and weather are not conducive to making good whiskey.
