They want to cut out the distributors -> stores -> secondary market. Then they get all the money from taters.

I don't blame them for it. Probably should have done it years ago. It is kind of funny they advertise it being on the blockchain 3+ years after that went out of style.

Supposedly Heaven Hill is doing something very similar. Anyone have a link for that one?

Heaven Hill just announced starting in June, they are only selling allocated bottles on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Trying a new bourbon I got for a gift. Good stuff.
Brothers of the Leaf Bourbon Finished in Toasted French Oak.
Anyone else tried it?

Haven't had it but looking at it online, looks like it is possibly Bardstown distillate. Finished in French Oak, i could see that being pretty good.

I've never tried Star Hill. Is it worth the price?

Brand new release from Maker's. Seems to have some favorable reviews so far but it's priced above their standard stuff by a fair bit ($120ish)

Not a bad "pizza's not ready I'll swing in here" pickup. Don't think the Makers is quite as good as The Heart release (a tick below) but love the 8 year Turkey.

That 8 year is pretty solid.

Alright guys I need 3 recommendations. I am limited in storage space and I have space for 3 more bottles to round out my small collection. Here is what I have:

EH Taylor Small Batch
Eagle Rare
Wild Turkey 101 8 Year
Bardstown Origin High Wheat
Makers Mark 46
Buffalo Trace

I need 2 bottles in the $50-$80 range and 1 in the $150 range. I have a line on a John J Bowman Single Barrel for $60. Should I pick that up? What are your 3 bottles to complete my collection? The Makers, BT, and Bardstown are the regular drinkers so ultimately I'll replace the 46 with a 46 Cask Strength at some point and the BT and Bardstown will be replaced 1 for 1. Sooo..whatya think?

I like to run into random stores to browse so I'll continue to do that. I also travel to the following states for work and can hunt there: New Mexico, Oklahoma, Missouri, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho.

I always keep a WR double oak on hand, meets the $50-$80 range and everyone seems to like it.

All day, every day. For my thoughts it tops every other bottle on your list and I am a huge fan of 4 of the ones you mentioned. It will drink most similar to the EHT.

Woodford Reserve Double Oak is an excellent recommendation by ValleyRatAg. I would add an ECBP to round out the 50-80 range and then a Stagg Jr off of the trading thread for something in the 150 range. That will give you a couple of high proof options for comparison.

I would suggest Knob Creek 12yr and Wild Turkey Rare Breed for the $50 to $80 range.

1792 full proof, single barrel or bottle in bond. Try to find a store pick (which is actually pretty easy to find). Those are all around $50 and are excellent pours. I always have an OF1920 and a 4 Roses small batch select. For your high end bottle, I would try to find a Weller 107 (for around $100). Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

Is the High West A Mid Winter Nights Dram worth $150? It's my coworkers favorite pour but I've heard it's not as good as it used to be.

Specs on Texas has 1792 Full Proof, Bottled in Bond, and Single Barrell store picks all in stock right now.

IMO yes. If you found one at that price and don't want it I would happily take it off your hands.

A few in the lower range that come to mind:

Russell's Reserve single barrels are consistently great.
Knob Creek 12
Ben Holladay soft red wheat
Wyoming Whiskey Outryder
A unique barrel pick from your local shop

Higher range options that aren't impossible to find:
Preservation Distillery just released a wheated bourbon that's phenomenal
Bardstown Discovery 11 or 12
Knob Creek 18

Interested in your thoughts. I grabbed one to and didn't like it all. Drinks WAY hotter than the proof and I felt like it overpowered the flavors completely.

Have you opened your KoK yet? Looks like we got the same barrel. I am battling with myself on wanting to rip it open and try a dram vs waiting for a special occasion

No, not yet, it is tempting but I really would like to wait till I'm with my brothers and my brother in law as they would really apprecaite the chance to try it, or maybe when my dad officially retires later this year. We shall see, maybe the mood just hits me right one evening over the summer and the cards fall another direction.

Just had a pour of a Disney pick of knob creek single barrel and it was an excellent pour! I don't know if it's just being worn down from the parks or what, but it felt extra strong! Much needed lol!
