We stayed at Dirt Farm Brewery in Bluemont at their bed and breakfast a couple summers ago. The beers were ok but the view off their back patio was amazing. There are another couple of breweries right there as well. They are about 20 miles west of you.
Winchester Va. is a pretty small town that has 6 breweries mostly clustered in their downtown area. We have been to them all over a couple of stays and they were all good but Vibrissa Beer and Winchester Brew Works are standouts.
A little north and east of you toward Baltimore is Sapwood Cellars. I have never been there but it is on my bucket list. It is half owned by a beer blogger and author, Michael Tonsmeire he does not post much anymore since they opened the brewery. The other owner is Scott Janish another beer blogger and author. They tend to make hazy IPAs. Farmouse beers and aged sours.

I really like Solace Brewing, about 15 minutes from Leesburg. I haven't been to the brewery, so I don't know if it is a cool spot, but lots of places in the DMV have it. Lucy Juicy DIPA is my favorite of theirs.

We just got back from the area, and while I didn't hit any breweries, I did try local stuff when at out to eat, when possible. I had Solace's Partly Cloudy hazy and enjoyed it. We're in a subdivision out in the country south of Leesburg, but it still looks like its only 15 minutes from us, so I'm sure it'll be one of my first stops. There's a run club that meets a couple of times a week at Old Ox Brewery in Ashburn, so I bet I'll be there a bunch as well.

Sitting at a cool $510 and 14 brackets entered. Think we have a few who have paid but not submitted a bracket so make sure you get one submitted by tomorrow at 11!

This is going to sound like sour grapes but maybe it should be a prerequisite to pay up on last year's contest before joining this years.

I honestly haven't even looked at last years spreadsheet or kept tabs on it so that's my bad. I'm not even sure how updated it is honestly. A couple of members have paid extra into this years to make up for last year but I wasn't sure if that was for never shipping or shipping late. However, your entry fee is covered. Shoot me an email if you remember which boxes you are still missing (I know one has covered your entry fee already).

Nah definitely not on you. You more than carry your weight by even running this thing.

I agree. I'm the jerk that hasn't payed up yet. No good excuses for it. I did just order some fresh Mcilhenny to include in my unbelievably late box. I'm going to get it out next week.

The pils was great. The pale was good. The IPA was just ok. I was drinking a Grace and Grit in the meantime so my tastebuds were maybe skewed.

It's owned by Dean Winchester/Soldier Boy and his wife.

I really want to go by there at some point.
