Well a good night of beer for me was capped by a 2014 BA Legion. Aged extremely well.

I'm an amateur at this compared to most of you guys so this is one of the older beers I had. Still have a couple more that I will let go a little longer after the results of this one.

Ended off with a Dos Equis for ****s and giggles and a Community Ascention Coffee Porter.

The latter is amazing.

tried kentucky habit today. wasn't as sweet as I feared, I actually really enjoyed it. not really much of a quad as mentioned, but a damn tasty brew.

also put down a 13 halia. every time I drink one, which isn't often at all, I'm thoroughly impressed. perfect amount of peach flavor.

First taste of the Dark Mild that WorkBoots08 and I did as a collaboration entry for Bluebonnet Brew Off. That's pretty tasty. Needs to warm up a bit, though, my normal temperature in the kegerator is a bit cool for English styles.

Popped open a Draft Bear from Mikkeller tonight, basically an imperial Pilsner. Got this at Jester King a couple months ago. I highly recommend this beer:

speaking of mikkeler, I feel like taking input on how I round out my shopping list. I've got some stuff I plan on grabbing but I like to randomly throw in a change of pace item. so pick 1 and why: mikkeler goiliat, mikkeler black hole, founders azazacca, schmaltz reuinion 15, brooklyn quintaceratops (I'd need some decent convincing to drop that much), anchor barleywine, petrus red (pale is a staple in my fridge) and go

Had the Quintaceratops. Didn't care for it. Usually like Brooklyn's big bottle beers, but this one just didn't work.

Really really liked the Schmaltz Reunion though.

thanks for the input, you're actually the first person who has told me they've actually tried quintaceratops. that's my biggest issue with the brooklyn top end beers, for damn near 25 bucks a bottle it better be a home run every time. I can live with being disappointed by an $8 beer from time to time, not so much at $25. I took your advice and passed. got the 15 reunion, it was their last one so it was now or never.

really cleaned up today, got some badass beers from a trade with hudson- thanks to bsd for facilitating. then rolled over to heb to get some growlers filled (finally have cali green on tap again, as well as the destihl Flanders red, imo best wild sour series beer so far) and a live oak hefe delivery just happened to show up right at that moment. so I got my case. nothing on chocolate bbh yet sadly, but otherwise a solid afternoon

Pretty delicious. A little like coffee-ish Hershey's syrup, and I do mean that in a good way. Untappd entries say 11.2%, which confuses me because I thought Bomb base was around 13, but no need for any more booze here anyway. Only complaint is that there's no chile flavor at all, but I wasn't surprised by that.

I bought a bottle today, surprised to see 11.2% listed on it.

For those of y'all with more knowledge than I, why would the Bomb lower in alcohol from barrel aging? What's the mechanism? Is it as simple as losing some to the air or barrel?

That makes no sense. ABV should increase as V evaporates.

I took down a BA bomb tonight as well. It's very syrupy. Lots of vanilla and chocolate only the slightest heat. Really faint on the finish. It was really good. I have a second bottle to age. So we shall see how it goes in a few months.

I mean that's what I thought, but didn't know if something else I didn't know of was involved in the Prairie aging?
