Forgot to mention had the strongest taste of a diacetyl beer last night. Not a huge fan of trinity's 7 day sour so figured I'd get a taste of the 365, which is their most expensive beer at 10 bucks a glass. The smell hit me right as I was tasting it. It was so bad.

Stone and Sierra Nevada collab NxS IPA. Pretty damn good. Nice night to sit by the fire pit.

tried nxs last night, I liked it a lot. you definitely can get a sense of both stone and sierra nevada's influence and imo the perfect amount of barrel for a beer like that

Anyone had any of the Revolver Brewing limited release beers? The Anodyne and Sangre Y Miel sound mighty fine.

Long day at JK, but I had 11 new beers today!

Which was your favorite?

Did they have their whiskey barrel brew? Can't remember the name...believe it's a brewery location only offering.
Sorry I just got around to responding...

My favorite was Cerveza de Tempranillo, followed by probably Foudreweizen, but I really enjoyed all of them. I covered every JK beer they offered this weekend that I hadn't had before, so that was fun...

I had Sangre Y Miel last year at BTBF, and it was really good.

Was that after you waited 30 minutes for the foam to go down?

Well, this is delicious. I'm not normally a smoked beer guy, but this is great. Wish I had more.

After hearing reports of off flavors in this year's batch of Bourbon County Barleywine and Coffee I decided to open up a bottle of Barleywine tonight. It definitely has a tart flavor I don't remember from previous years. Disappointing.

Dang. Hope that isn't the case for my bottle.

Related note: What effects do y'all see from this in the 2016 BC releases? Public perception/reaction and what GI does?

I don't see any negative effects. They are handling it as well as you can. Making barrel aged beer is hard.

I've opened a few bottles and have yet to experience a bad one.

Fellow Beer-threaders: You might remember my previous post about condensation in my upright freezer "cellar". If not... I'm having condensation issues in my upright freezer cellar. The freezer is pretty old, so maybe it's just a function of age and something not working properly. I have a Johnson Controls temp controller on it.

For a late Christmas gift, I'm going to buy myself another storage system. After doing some reading, it appears that freezers suffer from excess condensation and refrigerators suffer from too little humidity (and can dry out corked bottles).

What kind of system do you guys use? Any suggestions for the best way to maintain a trouble-free cellar in Central Texas? It will be placed in an insulated garage, so temperature swings are actually pretty mild.

Just buy yourself a freezerless refrigerator. You don't need to worry about humidity and your corked bottles, IMO. They shouldn't be cellared long enough to matter.

Agree with my friend from Colorado. I use two beverage centers from Home Depot after my previous fridge whacked out on me.

Thanks guys. That was my thought as well. I'm hoping to find one on CL or used somewhere to avoid paying $500+ for it.

Rare Barrel is releasing No Salt today online, a golden sour aged in tequila barrels. I'm really on the fence on this one. I hate tequila but love Rare Barrel...
