The uniform you wore as a cadet is presented as "historical". And I refer to the young lady to the left, I'm not old enough for either of the other two, despite what the kids on here ight think.
The Nebraska game. The Kickoff Classic. I was there but. I had to leave the game early to go to work. Just down the road at Newark Airpot. I flew you guys back to Easterwood on my Continental 727. Talk about a LONG night. We dropped you guys off and flew all the way back to Newark. I didn't get home until about noon. We had 2 727s. Major Haney was on my plane. I had a real nice chat with him.HollywoodBQ said:
Aug. 21st will be 35 years since I showed up on campus. August 27th will be the 35th anniversary of my first 8 o'clock drill at the New Jersey Meadowlands.
We closed out the pickle suits and switched to BDUs after my sophomore year.
Never got to wear a Ridgeway.
Did shine the heck outta some jump boots though.
Later, I took my old jump boots to Chung's off post at Fort Knox and had them converted to Tanker boots.
That is awesome! And the good old days of Continental.rackmonster said:The Nebraska game. The Kickoff Classic. I was there but. I had to leave the game early to go to work. It's a small Aggie world aint it?
It was Haney I met and talked to. A few posts back I called him Major Haney, which he probably was when I was there.ABATTBQ87 said:
Major Brewer or Colonel Haney?
Funny story about that weekend. I kew the Aggies were coming to my neck of the woods. On Friday night, we drove to NYC for Midnight Yell. I took my neighbors, they knew nothing about A&M. We had a blast. So the next day I'm on "Reserve". You have to be phone available during a certain period. They usually called you for a trip assignment the next day, however, they could "short call" and you had 3 hours to get to the airport and go. So I always had a bag packed and a uniform ready. Now remember, nobody had cell phones in 1988, I had a beeper. If it went off I went to a pay phone and called scheduling.HollywoodBQ said:That is awesome! So, when you were a fish, WWI was as far in the past to you as the Viet-Nam War is to today's students.

Class of 2027 starts this fall, 50 years after I did.
Class of 1927 started 50 years before me.
First students at A&M started 47 years before them.
The long Maroon line.
Likewise! We played smu (Inez Perez to Jerry Levias) on Saturday, before classes had even started.OldArmy71 said:
