This is actually the second version of the markers. The first version were bronze markers attached to stone pedestals. The date is unknown when they were installed. The bronze markers were removed in 1971, as a number of them had went missing and the stone pedestals were off kilter from the roots of the trees and being hit by mower decks, and replaced with the aluminum ones seen here. Both the bronze and aluminum plaques are in Cushing along with the plaques that were replaced in 2015.

Bull of Austin died of the flu 1918 ! Friend was at A&M ( Army I believe ) in 1918 and had worked as a mortician.

At a meeting in Guion they asked for volunteers with mortician training . 4-5 including the friend raised their hands .

All died of the flu except my friend !
