Wow! If I remember correctly SAWS has fewer than 500,000 connections. That means over 10% are deliquent. Average balance is $600+. Total amount receivable $40.8 MM

This is ain't no lie. I volunteered down there one year at Thanksgiving and a lady pulled up in a brand new Cadillac Escalade to get groceries like it was no big deal.

Complain to your Rep about this. They are going to let these people off the hook and we will end up paying for it in the long run with the next couple of rate hikes.

Zero responsibility or accountability in America today. This isn't a Republican or Democratic issue. This is an American issue. While it is ok to "Cancel" someone for a sarcastic remark, god forbid someone be held responsible for their obligations.

SA has to have some of the most expensive water in the US, and this may have something to do with it.

My water bills have gone from $40/month to $110/month is the span of 5 years for the same amount of water usage. They are the only game in town so it's not like we can just go to a competitor. Total BS.

We just moved into SA from the Greater Houston area and our first water bill is 2-3 times higher than Houston if you normalize the same water usage.

2 months in a row my water bill was over $600! I called and complained and was told I needed to find a leak and to do a leak test on the toilets. My sprinkler system was turned off during these months as well.
I looked and checked everywhere and found nothing. I told SAWS I was going to monitor my usage daily and not change a thing.
Every morning I would go out to my meter and take a picture. I get my bill for that month and it's $120. According to SAWS, I was using +45K gallons of water a month for the 2 months prior.
After I called and expressed my frustration I was given a courtesy discount of $150.

Thanks SAWS.

Does your meter reading match the most recent bill? If so, how did they overcharge before?

Not sure if serious...

You are clearly not in the Water Treatment industry. Go and drink lake/pond water.

No. Not serious. ::eye roll::

Christ.

My family has two civil engineers and one of them consults with SAWS in water treatment.

Also, you should know that you can drink pond/lake water without incident.

It may be that they use averages for a long time and then play catchup. Or, their meter is **** and they're overcharging. SAWS is terrible about this.

I own a laundromat in town that is pretty new, and the water bill was the biggest shock. I called them to talk about it and they told me that the only thing I can do is conserve water. You can imagine my reaction to that one.

A laundromat uses a lot of water. Who knew?

Good thing you didn't open a car wash!

Car washes actually re-use a lot of water these days. At least the automated ones do.

Yes, that's right. You're getting sloppy seconds at Wash Tub.

That wouldn't fly at laundromats unfortunately. I've tweaked my machines as much as I can, but my water bill is still more than $2000 per month.

Yeah, I am willing to do that for a car, but not my clothes.

Do you pay SAWS in quarters? That would be awesome if you did.

Oh, it for sure is, no question. But I know other owners in places like Phoenix that pay $500 per month. SATX has some of the most expensive water in the US.
