I am class of '99. Moved away 10 yrs ago. Visiting this weekend and I'm craving the best CFS in town. Please advise.

In Utah, CFS is breaded and fried ground beef. God help us all.

Bud Jones was good back in the day. DeWese's Tip Top was good last time I've had it. Hell, I wouldn't turn down a CFS from Jim's.

Not in SA but a pleasant drive ( well maybe not so pleasant due to construction) out 281 North to HWY 46 hang a right for about 2 miles to The Antler restaurant....you can thank me later

Ditto, fantastic CFS but pretty rough area. MK Davis is old school and great. Good Time Charlies is also up there.

Or drive an hour up 16 to TJ's Old Forge in Bandera. Good chicken fried steak, and they do a lot of other things right.

Was excited as a recommendation to return...but the Rib said MK Davis just closed...they were auctioning stuff off apparently...Hadn't been in 30years (was in Dallas 25 of those)..

I don't think this is correct, unless they closed just in the last couple of weeks, and given its status as an institution I would expect news like that to be in the paper.

Lulu's is auctioning off some items.

I drove by MK Davis today at lunchtime wanting to try their CFS. There was a big bunch of people on the porch waiting to get a table. I don't think they are closed.

The place or the food? The place is pretty rough, but the food was great. Caveat that with I haven't been there in quite some time so it could have gone downhill.
