How long do you want to ignore this user?
My wife and I are both looking for jobs in the San Antonio area. We are currently in Houston but now is personally a good time for us to make a move (no children, no full time jobs - only a couple of part time jobs that can be picked up in San Antonio). She's finished her Master's and is taking her exam to become a Registered Dietician - and I've had experience in the Transportation and also Hospitality industries. I'm posting this on the job network board also, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions!

I don't have any advice but to say both of those industries seem well suited for finding work in SA. Good luck.

20+ years trans/logistics experience, and I have yet to find anything here.

Zip, what kind of work you looking for?

Trans/logistics? Like shipping?

Yes. My background is primarily air cargo and passenger movement, with some surface movement and traffic management. Warehouse and cross-dock ops as well.

I've got an acquaintance that does a lot of material and equipment shipping in and around EagleFord. They work out of town here, I'll ask if they have anything if you're interested.

Hey Zip,

have you checked out HEB. They have a lot of openings in the warehouse and shipping sectors. Not sure what you'd qualify for, but they are a great company to work with.

-Thanks and Gig 'Em-

TexasAg2k9, yes, I have applied for a few things with them, to include night shift stock person just to get my foot in the door. Unfortunately, nothing has panned out.

Zip, my friend has strep apparently so I won't probably see her till next weekend. So give me a little time to get a hold of her, but I'll definitely ask her.

If you want to pop me an email, I can certainly pass it along as well.

Ya never know.

UPS is hiring-

I know. I interviewed with them for an basic supervisory position and fell victim to a dreaded "inbox test".

The position was unfilled for a while (it may still be due to the fact the branch was going to lose its place in the hiring line), as nobody could pass it. I guess having a unfilled requirement is for the best.

Zip, I think I might have talked to you before, but my old man is the district manager for 3C Logistics here in San Antonio. They are a member of the Cameron trucking group, along with Rig Relocators at the same location. Starting pay for a van driver or hot shot driver is 12-13 an hour with 60 hours a week pretty normal. Truck drivers make quite a bit more. If there is nothing there you can find, try Acme, Schnieder, Sanjel, or Eagle One. They all deliver personnel and materials to well sites all over the Eagle Ford Shale. Just be advised that almost none of these guys offer much of anything in the way of benefits. If you need any info for 3C/Rig Relocators, PM me anytime.

Nav, I do recall you mentioning something like this before. I will look those up.

I should consider getting a CDL to be more marketable. As far as benefits go, I am retired military, so I am covered with the basics.

Thanks for the reply.
