I've heard probably 8 versions of who and where. Most recently the strongman-midgets-medical center. Enlighten me.

You will have to ask the Donkey Lady or the Fang Baby of Old Pearsall Rd for the answer to that one.

The Midget Mansion did exist on Callahan and Interstate-10. The story is that a sailor from Galveston built it in the 1920s, and it was purchased by a "midget" couple, who had two average-sized children.

The father became so distraught by the harrassment from the community that he snapped and killed his children and wife, shoving their still conscious bodies in an upstairs body. He took his own life. Later, investigators discovered messages in blood and handprints on the inside of the closet.

"No body knows if this is true or not," Rushing said.

"There's no documentation that this ever happened. What we do know is up through the 1970s, it as a place where teenagers would come and dare each other to go to the house."

There's another version that says it was the servants who set the house on fire.

One account:

Off of Callaghan Rd., in front of a restaurant called "Cha Cha's", there is a large piece of wooded property for sale. This secluded property in an affluent neighborhood would certainly be any realtor's dream. Yet this property has been for sale for years. Perhaps the price is too exorbitant. Or maybe it is the bizarre history of the property that frightens potential buyers away. A large mansion was first built on the property in the 1920's when this section of San Antonio was considered to be the country. It is said that the original owners daughter commited suicide soon after the mansion was built. The mansion later became home to a succesful businessman, who was a midget, his very small wife, and their two normal sized children. Apparently the man went crazy one night and slit the throats of his family, and locked them in a closet while they were dying.

The man then shot himself. Others who lived in the house after the murder claimed to hear moaning, and scratching on the walls. For years the mansion stood vacant, until a fire destroyed it years ago, leaving only an eerie shell of the house which came to be known as Midget Mansion. As with many reputed haunted houses, the remains of the house and it's pool were stomping grounds for weekend satanists. After reported accounts of rituals and evidence of animal sacrifice, the remains of the mansion were torn down, and the pool was filled in. I have heard various accounts of what remains on the property today. Many have stated that there is nothing there. Always the curious one, I decided to check the property of Midget Mansion out for myself. I discovered several tiny houses which I'm assuming stood as servants quarters, a bath house that runs underground, and what appears to be the remains of a greenhouse. I have decided to research the history of the house, I will post my findings here on a later date. Any information anyone might have on the house would be greatly appreciated, and can be sent to me at Jennyhep@aol.com.

A different Locations ascribed to midget mansion

So first off is it true? Well one of the long time residents of San Antonio says it was. Actually he stated before the homes location became a luxury apartment complex, he used to run for exercise through the back areas because there use to be trails. At that time Midget Mansion was abandoned, there was nothing but the home in ruin.

I will now let everyone know the real truth behind Midget Mansion and all of its surroundings as how I know it from people that I have talked to.

Where is Midget Mansion
Midget Mansion is located in San Antonio, Texas at:

Promontory Pointe
4114 Medical Dr
San Antonio, TX 78229

No Midget Mansion is NOT located at near Cha-Cha's.....and NO its not by the major retailer Lowes at:

LOWE'S OF N.W. CENTRAL SAN ANTONIO, TX #1155
7901 Callaghan Road
San Antonio, Tx 78229

Though it is true that a Mansion was located at the now Lowes location. But it was torn down many, many years ago. According to my friend who has lived here in San Antonio at the same location for the past 20 years Midget Mansion was indeed located at what is now Promontory Pointe Apartments.

He stated to me that back in the day all that was left a sum odd 20 years ago was a foundation and a small amount of structure. He stated that he use to walk on the foundation and it was rather large, mansion like.

So is Midget Mansion an Urban Legend
No it is not, there is actual cases of which Midgets actually lived at the location. Weither or not they actually commited murder and suicide is perhaps indeed an urban legend.

The story of Midget Mansion
It is said that long ago in the early 1900's a family of midgets / small people lived in a mansion. The owner a midget himself was a very wealthy business owner in downtown San Antonio Texas. He had a wife, who was also a midget and 2 children...one male and one female. The children themselves were not small, but regualar sized people.

As the story goes. The husband arrived at the home and simply murdered his wife, and two children with a shot gun. Then hung himself in a bedroom closet.

What is unknown is why he did it...or weither or not this part of the story is true or not, I suppose its up to you as the reader to believe. But what is fact, is that there was a mansion located between Medical & Donore Pl. which is again Promontory Pointe.

If you have any questions or have perhaps another side of the story I would urge you to comment below. Please create serious entries, all others will be removed.

I actually visited a couple of times when I was in high school...and very drunk. Scary effing place. Especially when you roll up and see other cars there but see no one.

There were some rooms that were built at a smaller scale than others. When I was in HS the story was that part of the house was built for children and future grandchildren.

One of a handful of versions I heard said it was the Strongman of some ill-fated carnival/circus that went nuts and hacked up the midgets. Said version located the house "in the Medical Center." Granted, said version came from not the sharpest of folk, but it was not her original.

We would drive down the road that was some where around the Lowes, all the way to the end where it turned left. Park there and slide through the fence. Walk up the hill to the house. I was 15 the last time I went so that was 30 years ago. It was a spooky place but more because you were never sure who was there.
