Anybody have any suggestions for a restaurant in that area? Something not too expensive, maybe around $20 a person?

Caparelli's is gone. On Blanco (and about Bitters)is El Mirasol. Another Mexican place at Bitters and 281 is El Jarro de Arturo (Arthur's). Both are good places with great margaritas. Willie's at NW Military and 1604. Not great but affordable. Clear Springs on 1604. Really good. Stone Oak and Huebner is Cielito Lindo. Besst green enchiladas I have found in SA. All sorts of places out Huebner at I-10. There is an Italian place at Bitters and 1604 that I hear is good, but we have never eaten there. It is in the strip center with Lenny's Subs.

take bitters towards 281. before you get there, take a right on west ave. about 5 miles down the road, you'll see a tiny little restaurant across from a park/walking trail. the place is called el bosque.

you're welcome.

Crap! When'd that happen. I was just there a couple months ago, I think? It was a great spot to bring a date and in that $20-$30/person (w/ tip and tax) total.

Been there for lunch once. It was pretty good. People are always complimenting that place so I guess it's good.

OK, so I just called up the Guy Capparelli's location (yeah, I really liked the place that much ... haha) and the name has changed to something else. The lady I spoke to said that the only thing that has changed is the name. She said it's the same people, same menu, & pricing. Only thing different is the name.

Of course I haven't stopped in yet to verify, but I'd encourage you to check it out and report back here what you think.

I told the lady I was calling for their Sunday hours and she said 5-8p. haha

I know the Capparelli's and he sold the place to some people and they changed the name after it was called Guy Capparelli's. They don't have the same people, food, ect.. Guy Guy Capparelli or Guy Jr. moved his place to 410 and Broadway. Also his sister Gay has Capparelli's on Main. Those people are trying are lying to you.

Thanks for chiming in Burnet. I really enjoyed Guy's restaurant. I'm assuming the location just wasn't cutting it for 'em. Really, I've enjoyed every Capparelli's I've been to. I used to hit up the one on Thousand Oaks near Jones Maltsberger when I lived on that side of town too. The Huebner & Bitters location fish tank was a cool touch though.

Luciano is at Churchill Estates and Huebner. It's italian, they have a similar set up to La Madeline. Its quick and has great food.

Lenny's subs is at 1604 and Bitters. Good sandwich shop.

There is a lot at Blanco/1604 and NW Military/1604.

More upscale:
Fredrickos Bistro is a somewhat upscale restaurant at NW Military and Huebner. It has a French menu, I have not been but have heard great things.

Bitters and Huebner has Roaring Fork, Wildfish, and Brasserie Pavil

Chin's Chinese food at Huebner and Bitters is good as well. It's over next to the dry cleaners in the shopping center with Yardley's.

1604 access road just east of Bitters, Amorcito's is very good Mexican food. My wife's new favorite.

There are a few really good dishes at Stonewerks (Blanco outside 1604). Their Rueben is awesome, as is their wedge salad w/bleu cheese dressing.

The Italian place at Military/1604 is called Scuzzi's? (It's affilitated with Cafe Milano, pretty similar prices/menu). We like it, and it's just around the corner (same building) from FreeTail brewpub.

Re: caparelli's. Not only are they lying to you, their food sucks. That was our neighborhood place until the new people got it.

Forgot about Stone Werks. Good pizza there also. I like everything they have.
