If you wanna off load the saw stop, I'd be happy to pay you way under aftermarket value for it… you know to save you from having too many expensive clocks.

Overall, felt like I got a lot done over the weekend.



This will let me start running electrical, building benches, getting toolboxes in place, etc, and then I can build the wall to the left. Really opens up my options for next steps.

I scored a pretty nice stockpile of laminate countertop material from a local burger joint to use as a benchtop surface. I'm debating leaving as is vs painting. I've seen some encouraging results from people who painted laminate (with the right product) and it seemed to hold up, but I worry about it looking like crap long term. I'd welcome input from anyone who has painted a laminate top.



I prefer a 30" working depth for a bench, and these are 36", so this is a lot easier than trying to glue laminate sheets to a custom surface or dealing with 24" stock.

Leave it as is. That'll look awesome long term and way more fun and unique than painting.

Friends of my aunt got scrap wood from an old bowling alley. The lanes were redone as countertops. Some other wood went into trim. It was an eclectic house to begin with but the random marks, graffiti, etching etc looked pretty cool.

Looks better than the inevitable paint spills or hardened glue dribbles.

Yeah… thinking it over, I'll definitely live with it for a while, but my worry was small parts like Tea Party mentioned. I can always come back and paint later.

Agreed it'll look awesome and be really unique as is.

Got a lot of little things done over the past week leading up to today. Got an antenna mounted and wired into the TV locations. Bought a scaffold set and assembled it. Moved tools around several times to put things in place.

Got a couple TVs set up so I can watch college football while I work. Cooking with gas now!

Made a lot of progress today getting plywood installed on the wall. Definitely feeling my age tonight and will sleep well. It was tricky putting up the top layer until I got into a rhythm



Next step is rough-in electrical and then painting the plywood. I know a lot of people would probably just leave it as it. But I like how white makes it brighter and I want to.

Here's the conditioned space - starting to be very usable. Kids absolutely love it out here. Billiards, Ping Pong, Foosball, and a Switch set-up:

Got the OSB painted and a bunch of the lumber shelving up. Getting this lumber up and off the floor is definitely making it easier to work. As I get the benches built it'll really start getting easier as I can get tools out of boxes and up on pegboard.



There's about 45 16ft studs on those first four shelves. Rolling stairs were awesome for loading them up.

I was surprised at how quick & quiet it was when it popped Took me a second to realize what had happened. That said, what really won me over was just how nice the saw is. I really love the mobile base, too.

Separately - had a chance to get the saw back in action and have tested my workbench with my first sheet of 'Blue Sky' laminate. Also, got my electrical run, and now just working to install pegboard and outlets along the way. I plan on sticking an outlet every 4 ft and alternating which circuit it is on.



I'm really ready to have a workbench because I constantly can't figure out where I left stuff right now.

There's just too many outlets up in this *****, said no one ever.

There's an open wall to work with. Half the work is done.

Making progress. Got all the lumber racks installed, several sheets of pegboard up, hanging tools, and finally have power on the wall on this side of the shop.

Finally having a place to keep track of tools helps big time.
