I am staying at the cabin the next two weeks and having an issue with the stove.

** Due to location, no repair guy is available until late next week. Might even just be easier to take the stove myself to a a town and have it fixed that way.

Just looking for some pointers/suggestions on what I can do in the interim to fix, if possible.

Model is the standard generic Kenmore 790.9600 fully electric glass top range/stove..
1. The range top works fine. All burners work fine.

2. The range controls all work. Time/timer functions, the burners. Even the oven buttons work as expected, clicking and whatnot as you would expect when trying to heat the oven to bake/broil.

3a. The light bulk inside the oven does not turn on. The bulb DOES light up when you put it into another socket,( e.g. lamp)
3b. The heating element does not heat up. The element is relatively new. Purchased in 2021 or 2022.

4. no. I do not have a multimeter tester with me as I took it home a few months ago like an idiot. I have ordered a replacement via Amazon to pick up on Monday.

My initial guess, because the interior light is ALSO not lighting up even though the bulb is good, is that this is probably an electrical issue. It seems more than a coincidence both the bulb AND the element are not receiving power/working.

Do ranges generally have fuses between the range top and the oven? The manuals I have for the range do not include nay details about this point.

Suggestions for what should check out/consider.

There is usually a thermal fuse / thermastat that can blow /go bad if the heat gets to high without proper venting to prevent a fire. If it does have one, it should be behind the back panel somewhere if you pull the over out and remove the panel.

It could be a bad relay going to the oven

It could be a burned out terminal on the terminal block that leads to the oven portion

The 240 breaker could be going bad, is there a second one you can swap in to try in the breaker panel? If it lost a leg, the stove may still work but over definitely wouldn't.

These are all just guesses to check, not sure for exact model.

thx, i am going to take the range top control panel apart shortly to look for shorts/scorch marks on the PCB and start from there.

Use the free live chat at https://www.appliancepartspros.com/

Never use the self cleaning feature, see thermal fuse comment above.

Bad controller board. Scorch Marks from short.

Sucky part is that the replacement piece might not make it to me before Thanksgiving.
