Any feedback? Front door faces almost directly west and gets hammered by the west sun. Any recs on this front? Looking at Yale currently but just sure if it can withstand that UV and heat.
I have 3 Schlage Encode Plus locks.hijakeroo123 said:
My wife and I have a Schlage Encode Plus which works great. I would strongly recommend getting a lock with a traditional key as a backup in case the batteries die or the lock otherwise becomes inoperable while away. Some homeowners cleaning up after Helene/Milton have been locked out of their homes because they had smart locks without a manual key backup. Schlage and Kwikset are by far the two largest residential hardware manufacturers; Schlage uses a traditional keying mechanism (which can easily be rekeyed by a locksmith) while Kwikset uses their SmartKey mechanism which allows for self-rekeying, but contains a lot of plastic parts which can eventually break down and make the lock lose its keying, with repair almost impossible.
damn...I just bought this exact lock/color for my front door about 4-5 weeks ago.......htownag2007 said:
I have this one that I bought 2 years ago, but never installed because we went with a different color scheme. Unused with the manual and codes, but I don't have the box anymore.
I'd sell for $150

is your lock compatible with Apple homekit by any chance? if so, I might be interested in having it as a backup in case one of my locks goes bad again.htownag2007 said:
dang, we both almost got lucky. Feel free to return the one you just bought
