Looking at both of these for new build. 30" gas range and french door/bottom freezer counter depth fridge.

I like the GE Cafe oven with double stacked ovens - but wonder how practical this actually is? Will the larger/lower oven still fit larger things like a turkey? GE says it will still fit a 20# turkey - but curious if anyone has any first hand experience. Does the smaller/upper oven work well (read some reviews that it did not, for whatever reason)?

Any other thoughts on these 2 lines?

Got my Kitchen Aid appliances about 5 years ago and have no complaints.

Prepare yourself. We also got KA about 5 years ago and are on fridge #3, dishwasher #2, and microwave #2. Wall ovens and range have been perfect, knock on wood.

The ice makers on Kitchen Aid refrigerators suck, been through about 3 of them on our current machine. When working, they will only fill about 2 glasses, they have a very small ice bucket. Never again...

We have the Cafe set and really like them. Fridge is counter depth and naturally shallow, but I have a full size deep fridge in the garage that acts as week's worth of storage and the inside fridge is for more recent meals. Not a great big ice maker but again, the outside fridge is plumbed for water so it makes ice as well. No regrets.

Oven is great. Burners are hot and very responsive. The top oven I can keep at 200 and put bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns as they come off the stove and monkey bread or muffins can cook independently in the bottom.

Thanksgiving is a breeze. Bottom easily fits a 14lb bird and I can put two 9x13s in the top side by side. The top honestly gets used more as it heats up so much quicker than the bottom. No regrets, would recommend, but I understand the low low aspect could be a turn-off for some.

The dishwasher worked great for 2 years and occasionally just doesn't clean well, but I hear that happens to a lot of them. We vinegar clean it and have to be a bit intentional in loading but lately it's been back to normal. Meh on the recommendation of their washer.

We installed Kitchenaid appliances after Harvey Gas cooktop and combo wall oven and microwave great. Dishwasher very quiet and cleans well but have had to replace the upper rack would rate as good. The refrigerator has been replaced and the original had the Ice Maker replace at least once. My research indicated to me that any fridge that has a through door ice maker in the fridge door is going to have issues. I would choose to make sure the Ice maker is in the freezer section and the water dispenser is inside the fridge. Overall Kitchenaid is a good product line owned by whirlpool. I do not nave any experience with GE.

I would select the appliances that have the configuration and features you want regarding size you have in your spaces and the appearance you like. The Kitchenaid give a great looking kitchen.

We got all KitchenAid appliances with our new home six years ago. We have now replaced the refrigerator, cooktop, and dishwasher since then. Only the oven is still working.
