First time pool owner. The pool is already getting too warm for my liking so I bought one of those fountain things that hook into your pool jets that are supposed to help cool the pool overnight. It came with a tool to remove the eyeball seat inside of the pipe on the pool jet.

I tried to turn one last night a bit but it seemed to be pretty tight. I didn't want to torque it off if it was glued in or permanent. Is there a chance it is placed in there permanently or should I just give it hell and bust it loose?

TIA.

Most are "screw on", as are the ones in my pool. I had to use a good wrench to get them loose.

I can get the outer cover and the eyeball out, but this fountain needs to attach to something in the pipe. The tool fits in some grooves in the inner pipe. I couldn't get a wrench on the pipe I am talking about.

My apologies, I thought you were referring to the eyeball jet covers on walls.

Nothing to apologize about. I don't even know what I am talking about so I am sure my descriptions and terminology are way off. Lol. Thanks for the help!

Yeah I'm not sure. I've never used one because we have a water feature already. But I just assumed they would be threaded to screw in on one of the wall jets. I'm sure you've looked but maybe YouTube or Trouble Free Pool forum.

They typically weld themselves in place after a time. You will want to put that tool inside the eyeball jet and get a large pipe wrench on it to break it loose.

Was in the same situation last summer. The tool that originally came in the kit was plastic and bent/broke pretty easily. I ordered a metal tool off Amazon. Used a pair of channel locks to help turn and eventually got it out.

I'll say, if you're looking for a miracle cooling system this won't be it but it does slightly help.

If you get it figured out, just know that they do work with cooling the pool.

They rely on evaporative cooling and work great in dry climates and where overnight lows have a signifcant drop. They work better in Austin Dallas and San Antonio than Houston. If you're on the coast in Houston with overnight lows in the 80s and high humidity, these won't do much.

Thanks. I'm in Lubbock, so I may have luck.

Thanks for all of the input!

Not sure I would try to torque off the eyeball housing, it's likely that it's plastered in. If you're not careful, you'll create a wall leak there.

There's typically 3 pieces, the wall return glued to the pipe in the plaster, the eyeball body that threads into the wall return (this is what typically gets stuck and has the grooves in it for the removal tool), and the eyeball itself that threads onto the eyeball body.

Good deal. As long as you aren't pulling on the plastered in piece you should be good.

And to confirm, there are 2 other pieces on the outside that are easily removed, the screw on cap and the eyeball, part, correct? I can easily remove those 2 pieces. Inside of that is the pipe I am asking about. It has grooves for the tool. I ordered a metal tool off of Amazon that should be here today and I will try to take that inside piece out and attach the fountain.

Thanks all for the help!
