Re-sealing roof shingles

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have about 15 shingles that have lost their sticky stuff or laminate. I can pull them up where they are supposed to be glued down.

Any tips on how to fix these? Can I glue them back down or do I have to replace them? Can I nail them down? Or both?

Thanks Ags.

If the shingles are good, and not missing a bunch of grains, you can seal them. I'd select a tube of plastic cement from the box store. One tube should suffice but get two just in case.

Of course, you can also replace the shingles but that's a lot more expensive if you aren't doing it yourself.

All of that said, if they don't reseal on their own, it's possible they are getting near or past their useful life so keep that in mind when deciding how much to burn on repairs. If you need shingles, and you're close, I probably have some in my shop you can have.
