Any idea of the price range for removing a relatively small in ground plaster pool? And are there any companies (that service the BCS area) that you would recommend?

Demo and remove or just backfill? I've seen both, the former being more expensive. Would depend on size of the pool but I'd plan on 10k or so for full removal.

rent a skid steer with a jackhammer for a weekend. chip the boundary down as much as you want and throw that concrete in the pool and backfill the whole thing. I cant remember how many loads of sand we used for my parents 30k gallon pool, but the whole project was a hell of alot cheaper than $10K.

I'd want to remove at least the bottom (for drainage). Everything else could stay if that simplified things and didn't look weird.
I just did a big landscape project in my backyard which had a backfilled pool. All I can say is please please pay a bit extra to remove it entirely.

I (pool builder) could probably get my digger to travel there but I'm sure there's cheaper options in B/CS or even Houston, Conroe, etc.
The last full pool demo I paid for was $17k in 2022. It was a deep pool, 9' or 10' deep. This included re-packing dirt in the hole.
This was in DFW FYI.
As long as you knock holes in the bottom, you can just throw the boundary concrete down in the bottom and back fill with sand topsoil

If you do this make sure you disclose it when you sell the house or you might get a surprise lawsuit from the new owners

By the way, operating a backhoe with a jackhammer on it or a bobcat with a jackhammer on it is a lot of fun.
It can also be very expensive if you dry fire those jackhammers and break them. I do not speak from experience for breaking one, but I do know of someone that hasdone it and it was not cheap to fix!

Rent a mini-ex with hammer from any of the rental companies in town. Make sure it can reach the bottom. Bust up the bottom and take the sides down 18-24". Then backfill, compacting as you go up. I'd bet you could do this under $5k.
Yes most companies should be able to take care of this for you.

He's leaving it all in the bottom of the pool and filling it in with dirt
