I have a second home which doesn't need elaborate finishes. My second floor bath has a shower pan leak. Small, single sink.

BLUF: I'd like to get a competing quote or two from a reputable contractor before I proceed.

1) I had a contractor with excellent neighbor references quote a replacement. Unfortunately, the previous owners 'updated' this bathroom with non wet area fireplace-style tile which should be replaced when the shower pan is replaced. The quote is thorough but very high.

2) I have remodeled a home in Dallas and my daughter works for a builder so have some experience with the cost of these sorts of projects.

3) This home is used for football and other weekends, not ongoing use.

4) The contractor who quoted the job came in with a high quote. I can reduce some costs by providing the tile but during discussion was surprised at some of the bases of estimates and some things they didn't plan to do. That said, they are reputable and experienced. My neighbor just used them for a complete, high-end remodel and they did a great job. My project, by comparison, is not high-end.


Would appreciate any recommendations.
