Any recommendations for natural gas fireplace log sets? Fireplace has natural gas line capped at fireplace, so looking for set including burner, etc. Thanks

If you're in Houston, I suggest perfection supply. That's who did ours.

We ordered a set from Woodland Direct and found a local plumber that does gas work and had experience installing gas logs set it up.

I bought one of the Petersen Real Fyre sets off Amazon for about $300 and did it myself. Was pretty easy and it's worked great for 3 years now.

Am done with DIY and the lack of safety therein
Better than a plumber, a fireplace store can do it all w/o much upcharges from other options + be on call for safety and out of order calls

How different is the heat output vs. a real wood fire? Did anyone convert to vent-free logs? How do you like them?

Nothing is as hot as wood nor gives off as much creosote (chimney fire fodder aka house fire) nor ashes, sparks onto floor
then comes propane, then natural gas in BTUs

Vented logs do offer some benefits but the wise always vents even these.

Unless you have a Direct Vent fire behind glass doors, know that nothing in house - people, pets, plants - prosper from these gases. Quoting Readers Digest study awhile back.

Just had a new set installed (Austin) by Churchill's. OP didn't note where they're located but if in Austin I'd highly recommend.
