Winter is coming and now is the time to service your heater so that you don't get caught in the cold! If you're in need of a trustworthy HVAC company, then look no further! Picking the right HVAC company is easier than picking a new head football coach, the answer is right in front of you!

When TruService HVAC services your equipment you can rest assured that we will be thorough and honest in our evaluations. Even if you don't call us, here are a few tips to help you through this winter.

Life Safety:
Test your smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms and replace the batteries if needed.
Create a fire evacuation plan including a muster location and practice it with your family.
Never use an open flame source indoors as a heat source.
Never use a generator indoors or near a doorway/window.
Never use an electric space heater on an extension cord or more than ONE heater per circuit breaker. Follow manufacturer requirements for clearance of combustible objects such as drapes, bedding, and furniture.

If you have Gas Heat:
Replace dirty air filters.
Ensure that your attic treasures are not in contact with the metal exhaust (flue) piping and that the area around your furnace is clear of items.
Check to make sure that the vent stack on the roof has a rain cap and is not obstructed by trees.

If you have a Heat Pump:
Replace dirty air filters.
Ensure that the outdoor unit is free of dirt and leaves around the unit.
Test the "emergency heat" function to ensure that the heat strips are working.
When the outdoor conditions are below 35 degrees and wet, proceed to using "Emergency or Auxiliary Heat" until either the outdoor conditions dry up or the temperature rises.
Do not run your heat pump on a schedule during the heating mode. Set the heat to the desired temperature and do not let it fluctuate more than two-three degrees. Heat pumps are excellent at maintaining a temperature, they are terribly inefficient when trying to generate heat.
