Anyone have a recommendation? I'm researching installing gridded solar screens on the front of my house. Looking for a company that has good attention to detail because the grids need to match the gridded windows underneath.

Look I'm going for:

I appreciate any recommendations. (Cross-posted on Houston board)

Suggestion: staple a piece from a Home Depot solar.screen roll over your worst offending window as a temporary test to determine IF this is the best option to solve The Problem.

A certified Home Inspector may offer other options ...

That's a good idea. The front windows face due west with no tree cover and the sun comes in like a laser all afternoon so it has to be better with screens, but that will give us an idea of how much improvement is possible.

I'm less worried about energy efficiency than just dimming the brightness of the sun coming through.

Solar Screens will help a ton, but you're going to have a stroke when they quote you with those grids, especially the arched ones FYI.

I don't like after-market tints but Aggieland has some real pros that make a difference.
SInce most grills are between glass, tint film inside is noe option, among others ...

Yeah I am afraid of that.

We used these guys and were pretty happy but ours was simpler than yours (5 windows, no grid). It helped a ton though for the afternoon Sun coming in the windows that didn't have blinds. https://lonestarsolarscreens.com/

Home Inspector here.....big fan of solar screens. They work. Have even tested it with Thermal Imaging.

I used Lonestar as well at two houses.

Thank you! I'll give Lone Star a call. Even if the quote is insane at least I'll know what I'm looking at and can budget for it.

When I have done it, last time in 2020,i found solar screens to be very reasonable and cost effective compared most upgrades.

I made my own solar screens for the backside of my home that faces west and they work great. However, I only use them during the hottest months in Houston and remove them the other months. The only thing I don't like is how dark they make the rooms but I went with a 90% sun blockage, whereas would choose 70% or 80% if I had to do it over again.

We have windows with the grids, but our solar screens do not. It makes a huge difference and I love them. We do take them off the non West facing windows during the late fall and winter but the 2 facing West stay on year round. IMO I like the look of the screens without the grid more so than with.

Some HOA's will require the screens to have the grids. If you look close at the grids in the sunscreens there's a rivet at each point where the grids meet. It looks cheap up close but OK from a distance.
