Live in New Braunfels, so drought/heat is the largest issue. In the middle of yard with irrigation.

I was thinking Natchez?

Crape Myrtle trails of Mckinney is a great site. Neil Sperry has been on their board for many years and helped create the physical site and website.

Natchez are great, but they get 30-40' tall... not a small tree. Nice white flowers & cool bark.
They'll do fine with full sun.
Other cultivars I plant with great results:
Muskogee (lavender/30' tall)
Tuscarora (Dark pink/30' or so)
Red Rocket/Dynamite (Red flowers & smaller size)

I'd like to put in a plug for a guy I know; he's out of Waxahachie but sells to about every state in the US.

I went with black diamond crapes in crimson red in May 2020 and have loved them.

No problems through freeze or drought. They're a smaller variety though. Not sure how big you're looking for

I have 3 fantasy variety that I will give someone who is willing to dig them up this winter while they are dormant. The are approximately 10' tall. ( Bryan , Texas)

Here's a good guide. For the love of God, and all that's Holy, pick the height you want now, and don't commit "crepe murder" later because yours get too tall.

Agreed. But don't trust the heights given....verify!

I've seen charts that say Natchez varieties grow to 20-25' tall, which is at least 10' shorter than I typically see around here.
