For the second time, rabbits have cut the wire to the actuators on my pool equipment. I would like to avoid paying $75 each for 2 more wire kits. (See below)

I want to splice in new wire and but the heat shrink covers over them. Also, I'm going to go over it with a plastic corrugated covering this time.

Any idea what gauge wire this is so I can get a cheaper replacement at the big box store?

Looks like the only "special" part of that whole assembly is the connector. Just take it to any hardware store and buy some wire. My guess would be it's low voltage so anything you buy will be overkill.

Figure out a way to put it in conduit or some other form of protection.

Our problem here are the squirrels chewing on everything/anything and hardest to fix are the Christmas string lights. Trying several stinky repellants have worked, since conduit is not an options in this case. So add repellant to final product is my thought to break the habit and they avoid the area.

Cut some of your wire and take it to the local hardware store and find the right size wire for the replacement.

Then go over to the garden section and buy some low fencing and box in your pool equipment.

These solder connectors make repairs easy as well. That plus cheap wire coverings should help. If you saved your old wire you can just splice in some new if you need the length or just cut back and connect 2 good pieces.
