We had hail damage last month. We've had three different local & reputable roofers come out (two word of mouth from neighbors while they were nearby). The insurance adjuster came by and approved a new roof, fence repairs, work on our shed, and a couple odds and ends.
I know Texas law prohibits roofers from waiving the deductible, but what should I do/ask to differentiate between the companies? I'm not trying to ask for anything that unethical. I've heard of some including radiant barrier. I'm in the greater Waco area if anyone has a good recommendation.
Good evening!
See my Blog for picking good roofers. I know it's not ideal, but it works for getting the info out...:
https://infinityrooferjason.blogspot.com/2022/03/picking-reputable-roofer.htmlFor differentiating between roofers, here is what I offer when customer ask me how I am different:
I'll let you in on a secret...The PM is the differentiator. We can all put on a roof. Many can do it well. However, when I work with customers, I am the first contact and the last contact, and everything in between. I also have a full staff that works with billing. I am the guy on the job when it gets installed. When you tell me that your wife will end your life if a single shingle gets dropped on her geraniums, that's my problem to deal with, and my problem to prevent. I don't pass the job to some other dude at the company. It's me.
Many Ags here can vouch for me answering my phone or returning calls. Call your PM right now and see if he is responsive. If he is not, that's not great when something goes wrong and you need him to fix it.
Otherwise
For me (and what I would expect for your roofer):
Quote:
What sets our roofers apart? We offer not only an extensive selection of top-notch roofing materials and brands, but also:
Skilled Project Management from A to Z,
Free Roof Inspections and Consultations,
Award-Winning, Service-Oriented Roof Repair Professionals,
Customized Designs in Your Choice of Material,
100% Financing Options with Flexible Terms, and
Terrific Warranty Coverage from Various Manufacturers.
As a testament to our quality, we hold prestigious titles such as GAF Master Elite Contractor,, Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, and CertainTeed Five Star Master Applicatorproof of our industry recognition and expertise.
Your roofer will have X dollars to work with, what he includes with that is up to him. Personally, I throw in free decking when needed but I also try to add other pieces that will leave the roof better than a customer had. If I get that roof again in 10 years, all those upgrades will be paid for and I then I can again roll in some goodies. See what your roofers are throwing in.
Please don't hesitate to call me and discuss. I know you have a roofer, this isn't about selling you roof, it's about making sure you have your questions answered for whomever you have selected. I've helped lots of Ags make sure they are getting what they should be getting. Please call any time.
