How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looking for a contractor recommendation for replacement of 2 electric attic fans.
Several contractors said I need a roofer to install.
Anyone have success with solar?

Indeed you need a roofer
to remove and patch over these holes in roof (even solar not an ideal solution and never long lived)
to install ridge vents (+someone to install soffit vents)

HOU P&L research since the 80s proves such fans use more power than they save + whirlybird kins & other holes can't do the job properly.
"The Money Pit" radio DIY show backs all this up

Aside: installing a Whole House Fan in garage can save power and make both garage workers & attic happy. In rare good Texas weather, the WHF also draws air through the house by opening/closing fenestration.

1st, tgivaughn is probably right on most if not all points. If you have the time and resources look into the whole home garage fan. I looked at it briefly but went the quick fix route and installed two solar attic vent fans. Have noticed an improvement but still need to address other heat transmission issues.

We just had x2 solar fans installed on our house in Gleannloch and used Kidd.

Ask for Marcus.

You are replacing two, which implies you have two non functional ones now? Won't need to deck over anything as you'll use the dusting holes. If so, you can swap those out with new powered vents or solar powered one. Your choice. I can get you in touch with my installer if you want. Shoot me an email and i can get you an estimate if you'd like. 5-7 year warranties on the solar fans.

I installed a 15" master flow and dropped the attic temp about 15-18 degrees.

We also had a whole house fan but that was for our actual home. It was great the few times we used it in the fall or spring but I wanted to install a variable speed version. It was 30"+ and would easily slam a door shut if it wasnt propped open safely.

They don't want to be responsible for water damage.

This. Are we talking replacing existing exhaust fans that take hot air from the attic out the roof? I've replaced mine several times. By myself or just an electrician. It's all done from inside..Never have to touch the roof.
