Saw this on an inspection today. Any ideas what this is supposed to do or why it would be there.

Copper bar glued to the floor around the toilet. No other copper in the bathroom decoration.

Installed at all the ground floor bathrooms.

I'm sure you've already Googled it, people are weird.

Did they have it at the entry doors as well?

Did not Google, but I did ask about it. Will see if anyone gets it right.

One clarification. Only installed at two of the three downstairs bathrooms.

Well I won't spoil it, but I do take back my weird comment. Peculiar is a better word with a less negative connotation.

These will not be The Answer but hope others will follow suit ....

Plumbing: the new tile was thicker than old floor finish in 2 of the 3 bathrooms & they didn't raise the flange nor use a thick or double wax seal, so it leaks at times ... copper dam contains it is a solution ... haha

Boys will be Boys: learning to hit the target needs a spill over catch on floor akin to pee stop products ala
http://rb.gy/t95cx

Religion: Feng shui dictates the use of such a device when the toilet faces the incorrect cardinal direction; however usually these are copper decor arrows

Disgusting: pee may be one way to get a fast desirable patina onto copper, then removed for use/deecor elsewhere http://rb.gy/6ixg8

Electric: always getting shocked when using the toilet, copper anti-static strips applied http://rb.gy/rknma

Medical: copper kills bacteria, fungus, et al. that may linger near toilets and in roof shingles kills black algae, creating a cleaner look

Decor: glued to tile, these copper strips married to the bottom of custom mats to prevent them from moving about when serving as toilet surrounds

Aliens: better than pyramids as protection from aliens when pants are down and vulnerable

Occult: the Devil made them do this

Ten words or less ... a goal unattainable

Vastu. All about balancing energy or some such. Like Indian Feng Shui.

I'm going with some sort of esoteric stuff of a Middle Eastern or Indian culture based on the flooring choices of both toilets?

I just want to know what it would like like if you do remove that copper...

Was thinking there would be more funny responses......

This seems pretty close. She told me that the bathrooms were in the wrong place based on her Hindu religion. The Southeast corner. That the copper would "keep in the bad of the waste" or something to that affect.

Not my type of thing, but thought it was interesting. Have run into the occasional bedframe with a ground wire or similar things. Initially, I was thinking it was something like that.

Looks like they sell Vastu Tape in various colors so you can do the same.

Maybe I need to evaluate my toilets.

Never use the bevel. Especially not on a toilet.

I usually try to let the bad of the waste out when I am in there.
