Judging by the fact there are already low end blinds and you're still looking for blinds...

I've had really good luck with the mid range 2 inch faux wood blinds that they can custom cut to length at Lowes. I used them in a builder grade starter home and they significantly increased the darkness in bedrooms AND removed evening glare from a south facing window on the TV.

If you want a very dark bedroom, most will employ both blackout shades on window side http://rb.gy/uv18h
then blinds (if any) on room side these days

In-the-day, blackout heavy fabric curtains were employed, esp. up North to double serve as insulation against the cold http://rb.gy/6mp1i I'm sure you can shop for something that hangs/clings closer to the wall to block light.

Extreme cases will buy 2-4"tk urethane foam, pressed into the window frame, which blocks best, light-sound-temperatures. It's EZ to pop in-out. http://rb.gy/uiz8x

High dollar clients putting foam in the windows, wow.
Back in the day, this was the blackout method:

It gives your house festive metallic highlights & reflects suns harmful rays back to those pesky neighbors.
Protip: Be sure to put the shiny side out for maximum effectiveness.

Cellular shades will do it, you can even get the blackout cellular shades. I have regular shades in my bedroom, if I walk in during the middle of the day, I'll have to turn the light on to see. I can see the big stuff, but small stuff is tough to spot.

Thanks for your good messages. So far visited with Austin, the blinds person, at CS Lowe's. He said shades better for darkness than blinds, Two choices, cellular or noncellular. The non is made darker by adding backing.. Shades for 6'8' tall and 24' wide cellular, $75. $25 per shade installing,$75 min. Company that we had do blinds 30 and 16 years ago are coming next week to give us an estimate. Great to go to Lowe's and see the shades and blinds. Very educational. Thanks

In frame roman shades with blackout properties are the jam. Look clean, single point pull down and will block light.

Think about using these light-blocking strips for certain applications. They work great to block that 1/4" gap on the sides:
