We have a large family and do 2 to 4 loads a day. Bought a speed queen about 7 years ago and have not been pleased. Currently shopping for something different. Any recommendations?

I'd be more interested to know what you don't like about your speed queen - they're supposed to be the top dog in the industry. You could even call them and voice your complains and they're good about working with customers to make them happy

Otherwise I'd say do with one of the big appliance brands - I'm partial to things owned by Whirlpool. I stay away from LG and Samsung appliances. I've had so many bad experiences with them I'm just tired of getting burned. Though for washers I'm all about Speed Queen so ... what do I know lol

Personally, we are still using our Roper machines. They are 20 years old. We have a washer and dryer. They trick to longevity is buying a machine with no bells and whistles. I like to buy the biggest cheap ones they sell. I find there is more quality baked into them than the more expensive units. Parts are easily available and inexpensive. There just isn't a lot to them to break down.

If you have to have HE, chimes, WiFi connections and linking to you iPhone calendar then these aren't going to do that. Mine use a crap ton of water with a big old nasty grease beating agitator and clothes come out clean which is the way I like it.

It takes almost 90 minutes to wash a load and a lot of times my wife has to run it twice to get things really clean. I just checked the hoses to see if there was any build up slowing the water flow but that did not seem to help.

We would prefer one that's not HE.

No help on the washer since it has been purchased, but we still have my wife's grandmother's GE dryer. Simple, simple, simple. We had to have a tech come out because of a squealing rotor that I didn't want to tackle because I was worried about setting the drum back right. The guy had the same opinion as you. Keep it as long as you can, easy to replace parts and less to break down.

Yeah. I like them. I would get a new 'cheap' one if i needed one, or I would find one on Marketplace. I see them ALL the time. They are usually less than 250 bucks for the PAIR, and people are getting rid of them because they are upgrading. Sometimes, they are even free on the curb. Even if they are broken and free, the most expensive part in them is the motor, and even that is les than 200. It's largely the same design my mom had in 1983, except not pastel yellow. HAHAHA....
