Any insight on post frame vs traditional vs steel builds??
Finally getting a couple acres out of the city and just now diving into the build options. Some questions to start with:
Feel free to share any knowledge you have on the building process in general. First time home build and starting from scratch. Don't have a floor plan yet but think typical open concept kitchen/living room with split master/guest bedrooms.
Looking to build in DeWitt County for reference. Shooting for around 2000sf living space and 1500sf shop space with no preference on attached vs detached.
Finally getting a couple acres out of the city and just now diving into the build options. Some questions to start with:
- Cost comparisons
- Build timeline
- Handyman skills but would sub out electrical/plumbing work for sure. Have done some framing/roofing before. Is it worth it to do some work myself or contract it all out?
- wind/hurricane...what do I need to know for each build type?
- Ease of financing build types?
- Full DIY post frame kit...biting off more than I realize??
- Never poured a foundation for a home, but have done various concrete work in the past (i.e. sidewalks, small pads, etc.). Is this a DIY project for a home or wiser to contract out?
