Located in San Antonio. House is about 30 years old with copper pipes. We've had several pinhole leaks inside the walls that I've been patching. Got a quote today to have all copper pipes replaced with pex from Repipe Specialists.

2.5 bathrooms, 2 stories. Relocating water heater and water softener from pantry to garage. Runs to 15 fixtures, plus 3 hose bibs. Inspected by city. Replace and texture all drywall that is opened up during installation.

Quoted $16k. Just wanted to get opinions on if this is fair or ridiculously overpriced.

It's been 2 years but I did a full repipe in Houston for about $5,000. ~2,100 sf single story. 10 fixtures, no hose bibs, and no moving the water heater. Yours feels a little high but not completely crazy imo. Water heater move, hose bibs, and two story house are definitely going to cost you more.

It seems everything "home repairs" & systems replaced begins at costing $16k these days ...

Sounds like a fair price to me for all that is being done to the home. Construction costs are high, especially in the S.A. market. Make sure he has insurance and workman's comp. DO NOT ACCEPT HIS WORD, MAKE HIM SHOW YOU PROOF AND THEN YOU CALL THE COMPANY TO VERIFY. Your life will be hell if he does not have insurance and something happens on your property.

Seems expensive to me. I had a whole 3/2 house repipe with 4 hose bibs and a new water heater moved for $8500 in 2021. If you're spending more than 10-12k I would keep shopping.

we remodeled in 2020 and replaced copper and lead with pex for 1 and .5 bathroom and our kitchen combined with adding an entirely new bathroom and it was about $11k. so that's high, but not insanely high. our house was entirely pier and beam so a bit more accessible without having to bust everything up.
