Can you really tell a difference? I have a hard time believing this.

We've had a couple (original then replacement) and honestly I think its more of a matter of it "doesn't get as hot" vs cooling. In other words, it may not make you as hot as a mattress without it, but I have never noticed a "cooling effect" from it. HTH.

I've got tempur pedic topper that is the breeze version. Its definitely cooler than the original tempur pedic mattress but thats not saying much.

If you really want a cool mattress, I'd look into this. Its literally a watering cooling topper. Almost pulled the trigger on it, but haven't yet.

Get a bedfan. Best $200 you'll ever spend. It's also great for when the AC/power goes out. And they're made in Texas.

Forget giving your wife the dutch oven when you fart under the sheets, you're now in convection mode.

Consider getting a latex mattress - cooler than memory foam.

Yeah. I'm assuming you're not poor and have a generator or at least a neighbor with one.

The bedfan reminds me a bit of the "Smart Duvet" that came out a couple of years ago. I got suckered into a kickstarter for it and finally received a unit after going somewhat spider monkey on them for never shipping it.

It was / is a piece of crap. Installed it, never used it. Issue was the duvet itself and it was plasticy, loud and did not throw out much air.

Wonder if I can use the base / blower and just pipe some air under the sheets.

To the reference for dutch ovens, these things should really suck air not blow and then they catch all the toots, queefs, and dogfarts.

Thats what it does. The blower goes at the foot of the bed, on the floor, and it has a plastic "duct" that you put between your fitted and top sheets. It works great as long as you tuck your sheets in around it well so that it blows across the top of the mattress and not down the side. Im not a rocket surgeon and figured it out quickly. Ill never NOT own one.

May have to get one. I despise getting warm during the night and like to sleep below 64 degrees if at all possible. But air movement is also key. Thanks!

Try BedJets. www.BedJet.com we have had them for 4 years and hate not having them when we travel. Great in the summer and winter. They solved all the problems stated above. We have a split king sheet so I can have cold and wife can have heat and they stay separate. Can also program for throughout the evening.

We've been using an Eight Sleep for a little over a month now and I wish we had gotten it much sooner. I sleep hot and my wife sleeps cold so having dual temp zones is awesome. Her side is usually set to +/- 1 *F. My side is -5 *F, then I let autopilot run through the night. It's awesome getting in a cold bed and staying cool all night. It's not quite what I thought it was going to be in the sense that it cools the bed all night but rather keeps it from warming up. We also sleep with a 65lb dog in the bed (my side), and before the Eight Sleep I would wake up hot and have to shed covers almost every night. That hasn't happened once since having the Eight Sleep.

How much noise does the whole system make? I'm trying to convince my wife to buy the 8 sleep, but she's concerned about the extra noise the machine will make.

Maybe a very quiet hum but Ive never really noticed beyond the initial priming when we set it up. We do also have an air purifier in our room we turn up at night for white noise, though, so I doubt we'd notice anyway.

Remember to tuck in your top sheet tightly around the backside of it (I've rolled up a large bath towel before and stuffed it around the sheet also to keep it from pulling up). Directing the air across the top of the mattress is the key, obviously, but also keeping the sheet from pulling away. I bought these sheet straps and they've worked great! Connect them to the top sheet at the foot of the bed, then to the fitted sheet at the other end.

Thanks. I actually already have some straps for the top sheet (different but same concept). I'm absolutely OCD about the top sheet staying tucked in!

Pro tip: These straps can be installed over the top of mattress for those who like a very "confined" sleeping arrangement with their madame.

That's what the eye bolts are for on my headboard and footboard. It's the equivalent of sleeping with a weighted blanket.

Actually I am confused now… those are for the fitted sheet, no? The goal is to secure the vent outside the fitted sheet but have the top sheet tucked in tight around it, right? Don't understand how these apply.
atmtws
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Yes. You're correct. I have my fan at the foot of the bed, and now use these straps on the top sheet at the end with fan, but then connect them to the fitted sheet at the headboard end. It keeps the top sheet pulled down at the fan end, so it doesn't get pulled up/scrunched up when it'll reduce airflow. Also, if you have dogs that sleep with you, beware. This fan will now be theirs. We are constantly having to make our dogs move bc they find the cool spot next to the fan and claim that territory.

Made me think of a hilarious story my wife's friend told about her dad waking up all upset and yelling when they were visiting because apparently the dog had farted right into his CPAP machine.

We have the TEMPUR-LUXEBREEZE FIRM mattress, and despite a zippered case and bunch of blankets, I'm really cold until I've been in bed for a while and my body temperature catches up.

This mattress is no gimmick--it really does make a difference in how hot through the night. We went through two other mattresses before we got to this one trying to get the correct firmness. Was expensive but worth every penny.

Did you get the fan and use it yet?

bam02
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah we've used it two nights now. Not sure what we think yet. We have used it in the lowest setting only and I think it feels nice but don't think I'd want to use it any higher unless we were having A/C issues. My wife doesn't know if she likes it.

I did not sleep well either night but it was more from a little increased work stress lately. I've been very comfortable.
