Moved into a newly built house in February and running into a problem with doors slamming when more than 1 outside door is open.

It's great that our house is so well sealed but does anyone have any suggestions to help stop it?

Having a birthday party for my son in a few weeks and I'm sure we'll have a lot of in and out. I'd prefer to not have someone loose a finger while they're over.

For a temporary fix, like at the party, would opening a window somewhere else in the house help?

Any ideas on a permanent solution besides door closer like on commercial doors?

My problem is it's my outside doors slamming so I can't leave them open.

If you have the back door open at all and the door into the garage or the front door opens then it slams the backdoor. I'm more concerned about some little kid being in the way or have a hand on the door frame when it starts to close.

When winds pickup here in Aggieland, no matter how sealed a house is, the strong draft "gale" slams open doors, both in and out for decades.

Trial/error, time/money drain paths led us to
  • rubber door stop/equal between buck & door latch side = narrow opening
  • stuffed animal/pillow/sandbag/equal = any opening size desired
Ten words or less ... a goal unattainable
