I normally do not have issues with walls, but recently have come across a problem in two different areas I repaired on ceilings. We had a little water penetration in the attic which I fixed and dried out. One of the areas was probably an 8-10" circle. I cut away the skin and knifed out anything that wasn't stable.
I applied a 1/8th layer of this stuff, and let it dry. I checked 5 hours later, didn't seem to be very dry, so I waited 24 hrs and then sanded, wiped clean, and painted.

After I did this, I started noticing the paint was cracking, which made me wonder if it the spackle compound wasn't dry and now it was drying more, causing the paint to crack.
I went back over the entire area sanding, and applying a 3M lighter spackle.
The same cracking appeared again, so I'm perplexed if it is the paint I'm using or what. It was an older can, but I mixed it back up and it was very smooth and seemed like new when I applied 9/2018.
