Not sure and I didn't think to ask. Also, Calloway's said to water the yard 48 hrs. after applying the pre-emergent. Said this helps the granules get into the roots of the weeds and kill them.

someone needs to educate Calloways on what a pre-emergent actually does.

Ha ha ha...someone should have told them the whole point of pre-emergents is to prevent weeds from coming up. They are not used to kill weeds that are already growing...

And just follow the directions on whatever you use. Both the pre-emergent and fertilizer I use call for lightly watering after to activate.

What if I put out preemergent too early in Houston? I put it out early-feb IIRC. I also sprayed the entire yard with Celsius three weeks ago. I resodded celebration bermuda last summer and didn't put out fall preemergent, so I needed to take care of some weeds. I've got two applications of milorganite down now. The grass never went fully dormant last winter.

To clarify, the stuff I put down from Calloway's was pre-emergent and post-emergent:

Let me know how that works. I bought dimension "because Neil Sperry said so" but looked at that bag. I missed pre-emergent last fall because we had a disease and now my yard looks awful.

I didn't want to risk $50 on it when I had confidence in dimension. Let me know if it's a good option in the future, please

I've been using this last year and this year (dimension):

For existing weeds that are growing, this seems to work pretty well for spot treatments:

Used this last year and had good results. Looking to use again this weekend in Parker County.

I put mine down Sunday. When should I fertilize? I'm in Carrollton.
Subscribe to Neil and get this "what to do this weekend" newsletter for more specifics. Someone else previously posted his basic rundown of when to fertilize. These are just a bit more pinpoint and reminders.

Lawn - March 14

Just use the same fertilizer for everything. I have some specific rose food, but I will just hand toss some in the beds. 30-1-1 or something like that. If you are growing yaupon trees, he recommends a tablespoon of fertilizer watered in monthly. I've noticed almost 2 feet in verticle growth in mine in a year.

In DFW and planning to fertilize this weekend. Any suggestions as to brand or store? For St. Augustine.

What peeps don't understand is fertilizer is fertilizer regardless of the bullsh't lots of companies try to sell!

No need to buy the expensive stuff as cheaper is better as it performs as well, if not better as the expensive Scotts brand etc stuff. The key is slow release nitrogen!

NO weed AND feed fertilizer as you need to do either weed OR feed but not both at the same time per Neil Sperry and I totally agree..worked for me for umteen years and I learned that lesson growing up on a farm...

For my San Augustine lawns over 30 plus years, I use the following from Home Depot...

Vigoro 15,000 sq. ft. Lawn Fertilizer
