We have a set of French Doors between our kitchen and back patio. The doors were forced open and of course there was some damage done where the door latches into the door frame. You can see where the wood in the door is cracked in the picture below.

What options do we have? Is there a repair to the door that can be done or is our only option to replace the door?

If it can be repaired and somebody has a recommendation for a contractor in Houston, please let us know.

Hardware may need to be replaced but a cabinet/furniture shop should be able to inject glue and clamp or a good trim carpenter. I grew up in a cabinet shop and am in commercial construction in San Antonio but don't know any in Houston.

Glue and clamp is your best option. Depending on the depth of the crack and what tools you have, you may be able to do this yourself. I'd pull the hardware, take the door out, and lay it on the hinge side. Keep the crack open as much as possible without opening it more, and get some exterior/waterproof wood glue in there. Titebond III would probably be a good bet. Something that cleans up with water would be best since your door is already finished. Give it time to flow deep into the crack, then clamp it down tight starting I the middle and working your way to the edge. You'll want some thin boards on both sides to clamp down on so you don't damage the finish on the door. Clean up any excess glue. Wait for it to cure, then replace the hardware with new. Then put the door back.

You'll need some plastic sheeting for the doorway while the glue cures.

The plastic body of a syringe, no needle, helps to get the glue where you want it. Work in with a thin blade, x-acto knife, using a thicker blade to hold open.
Wax paper between the thin boards and door also help protect and keep from sticking should there be any glue squeeze out where you can't see it.
