Don't do it. I special ordered one once that was all stainless and built specifically for coastal home applications. After a year it looked so bad that I replaced it with a light. The patio on my coastal home did not have a lot of air flow (hence the fan) and so that would have contributed to the moisture in the air but I just don't think there is one on the market that you can reasonably expect to look good after too long in service.

DOLLAR GENERAL !!!!! There is a good reason ( well a LOT of good reasons) that DG is so popular on the coast.
Fans and such are perfect examples of the buy cheap and throw away yearly type items that are best for the coast. The salt water coastal environment is just about the harsher environ on the planet for everyday items with moving parts

This. The in-laws have a place on North Padre and spent good money on the first two outdoor fans until they finally realized the $35DG special is a better investment and lasts just about as long.
