I CAN only imagine OP compiling pics and detailed notes as he labors along, excited about finishing the project and posting the success on texags.... he opens thread and says WTF.... have you all been talking about for 7 days....

Hell, we already have people singing at his funeral.... I reckon we should open the will and divide the estate amongst us appropriately or at least hve a lawyer chime in so we can fight over who gets the old valences.

*raises hand*

Don't forget I came up with the death pool.

It's obvious OP is very handy but had no idea he was opening Pandora's box
It took my contracted 4 weeks to do 2 bath rooms with 3 dudes working 8-5

So are you in for 10 days then? One bathroom working 24/7. He doesn't need sleep. He has Red Bull. Someone might need to check the math on that.

That sounds about right to me, although he's already down for 11.25 days.

Ah I missed that. That's why you're in charge of the spreadsheet and I'm not.

My guess of 11.25 stands
I dropped off some adderall on day one at homeboys house. Meth on day 5 should carry him to day 9 with intermittent bumps of cocaine carrying his rotting corpse across the finish line with an epically rushed bathroom remodel.

Ya'll just made my day with the hijacking of this topic but I will continue on in this one with my updates. Sorry for not posting yesterday but it was pretty much a lost day. Got pulled away from the project to handle some stuff at work that couldn't wait till I got back from vacation. The electrician did stop by yesterday so that go completed but that was about it. Because of the work issue unfortunately Friday afternoon is definitely out of the question (although from the looks of this board I was most likely going to be dead before that anyway).

The new deadline is Sunday evening. Since Friday afternoon, all Saturday, and Sunday morning are being taken up with a wedding down in CS, I am still going to classify that as a week. And for those keeping score, as I mentioned in the OP, this included everything BUT the countertops, bath tub splash guard, the shower ledge, and the shower glass. These all have to be fabricated and the lead time was not going to allow them to get done in the original timeline. They will be the following weekend. So if that is 14 days by your all standards then I guest I have already fail.

Oh well . . . onto the updates.

Early this morning is was able to knock out the water closet pocket door. This was the last of the rough framing and one I had been putting off since if am installing it on an exterior wall I wanted to make sure it was fine structurally. After that I found myself under the house for a good 4-5 hours working on the water rough-ins. What I have discovered about using Sharkbite fittings is that the two joining pieces have to be perfectly in line for them to work. If either pipe if is putting a lateral strain on the joint, it will constantly leak. As you tell from the pics, going from fitting to fitting was not fun. If I had more time, I wanted to take this opportunity to install a Viega Manibloc and have one continuous run to each fixture but unfortunately, time nor budget allowed for that. Once all that was completed I wrapped up all the insulation and sound proofing. All the walls that we share with the other bathroom and furnace room got sound proofing, as well as the wall where the shower pipes run to help muffle that sound.

Ceiling and Vanity Lighting

Water closet pocket door

Tub and shower rough-ins

Insulation and sound-proofing

On tap for tomorrow will be drywall, bathtub installation, shower framing, shower floor, ditra underlayment, and depending on how this go, possibly the floor tile. And for those wondering how all the tile work timeline is going to work out, you can thank the good people at Schluter for coming out with their own line of mortar which included a FAST-SET option so all tile is groutable in four hours which is just enough time to either sleep or go out in the garage and finish painting cabinets or laying out and assembling the wainscoting. Until tomorrow evening ladies and gents. Try not to hijack the thread too much.

I'm glad you are alive!

What about the stained glass window? Is that getting replaced while the wall is open?

Me too, I'm glad you're not dead.

My guess is that including countertops and sink/faucet installation it'll take 38 calendar days from start to finish.

You're like Jacob McCandles aka 'Big Jake' (John Wayne)! We're all going round saying "poor AggieFactor" and then you reappear and we're like, "AggieFactor! We thought you were dead!" And you answer, "Not hardly!"
Love that movie...anyway, glad you're alive.

Enjoy the wedding! Those of us that live in Aggieland promise we won't appear at the various churches and wedding venues around town trying to influence the spreadsheet. Well, at least I won't; I can't speak for the rest of these skalawags.....

As far as the window goes, I am just having the glass replaced. The frame is in good working condition and it matches the rest of the house so don't want to mess with the eye sore.

As far as the wedding goes, given who it is for, there is very good likelihood that some of you all will be in attendance. Feel free to come up to me and say hi and discuss the project. I will be the guy at the bride's table that looks like a walking zombie.

There is still a chance.

Good luck maintaining the schedule. And don't forget to change out of the dusty and paint-stained clothes and shower before attending the wedding, unless of course you are hoping to keep ahead of schedule and can't be bothered with trivial items such as cleanliness or presentation. Remember, this thread is about you, not some folks gettin' hitched.

Well if it wasnt obvious before this, it should be obvious now, this project wasn't getting done in the original week time line. I am still certain it could have been done, but even all my previous renovation projects did not prepare me for the planning necessary to underake this one. A bathroom has so much more work behind the walls, under the floors, and in the attic than I was used to. When I do our next bathroom, I now know the order of how things need to go to be the most efficicient with my time and avoid multiple trips to the hardware stores each day.

So at the wedding, the wife and I had a nice long talk about the bathroom schedule and it was decided to no longer rush through it because she would be willing to move back in without it being complete. She just needs the majority of the work that creates the most amount of dust done before she moves in. She gave me until Wednesday to get that work done. With the extended schedule, I did not push to get back here from CS that quick, nor did I work myself that late into the night once I started.

FRIDAY MORNING UPDATE (Sorry for not posting these but wedding activities took over the whole weekend)

Sorry for the lack of in progress pictures. At this point in the week I was more interested and getting as much stuff installed as possible than keeping you all updated with progress pics.

The tub, shower knee wall, the shower drain assembly, and the shower pan got installed Thursday night/early Friday morning. Also the shower drywall had to be installed so I would know the correct size to cut the pre-slope.

ONE WEEK UPDATE (Sunday evening)

The rest of the drywall for the main bathroom was installed. When I went to finish the toilet room drywall, I ran out of drywall screws so I just called it an early night since the hardware stores were already closed. Any of the gaps you see in the drywall are getting covered up by either molding or paneling.

From this point on I should be able to get some good pics because things will be moving slightly slower. I still hope to have everything except the countertops complete by this weekend. Given how I am now back at work, and only doing this in the evenings, I figure that is roughly 3 extra full days of work, which would of meant had the wedding not been taking place, and I would have planned better, than the ORIGINAL schedule of Saturday to Sunday might have actually been possible. I thought I could shrink the schedule down to accomodate the wedding but obviously I was mistaken.

On tap for this evening, tap and mud, Ditra underlayment, first mud sanding, and Kerdi the shower. I will be posting all my updates from this point on around this same time every morning so. ONE WEEK + 1 to come tomorrow.

It was a brilliant move. He had the conversation in public, where love is in the air, and after a couple calming drinks.

That's still a pretty ambitious schedule, so good luck for no more surprises!

Smart move by both you and the missus. Compromise leads to better outcomes for all and can be a recipe for a long and happy marriage (28 years here) .

Can't wait for the updates....
