Hone warranty is going to offer a buy out for new dishwasher. I've always heard Bosch is the best. Agree? Any recs on specific model #s?

Is the 3rd rack worth it or does it get in the way? We have little kids so wash a ton of bottles and tops and usually a lot of plastic Tupperware. Not as worried about cycle time as we usually run at night. Quiet would be nice.

Lastly, best place to buy? What are the best places to shop online? Tia!

We use our 3rd rack quite often. It's a Bosch (model SHXN8U55UC) and just as most reviews say, no heating element so it doesn't dry plastics super well but not a big enough deal to matter to me.

It's so quiet that if it wasn't for the red light that shines on the floor, we wouldn't even know it was running most of the time.

We have a 4 and 2 year old and the top rack is always loaded with lids for their cups. Some people use it for flatware and take out the basket but I use it for things like tongs and spatchulas.

Bosch can be good. IMO Miele is better, we have the previous model of from the Futura Diamond Series (does not have knock 2 open). It's handled everything we've thrown at it.

If by a 3rd rack you mean something at the top for silverware and things like that, yes it's great. It might take up all of 2 inches at the very top of the dishwasher but it's something we always use. Would not want to go back to the kind with the basket on the bottom. The space freed up from getting the basket out of there is better than losing such a small amount of height, and the second row is adjustable anyway.

It's completely quiet aside from 5 seconds of a light hum from the pump when starting up. We bought online from AJ Madison. I've bought tons of appliances from there without any problems.

Thanks guys... I think the Miele is probably a little more than we want to spend.

I definitely want a 3rd rack. I agree it would be great for the kids cups lids and to get the basket out of the bottom if needed.

I will check out AJ Madison & a couple others!

TIA!

When we purchased our home last summer, the previous homeowners had a Bosch that looked fairly new (I would say less than 5 years old). I don't remember the model number, but the control panel at the top had buttons - buttons that broke off and fell inside the door.

We replaced it with a KitchenAid ProWash and I've been extremely pleased. We don't have a third rack, but I can see where it would be useful.

We have one with a 3rd rack (LG) but we took it out because our tall cups would catch on it.

Our middle rack is adjustable, until I figured this out, we had the same problem

Would be interested but in Houston and we have already gone almost a week without a working dishwasher. Want to get one ASAP. Thanks for the offer though.

Check prices at best buy, lowes, and HD. You can usually find 1 of those holding a sale on appliances. If not, one typically is a decent amount lower, and the other 2 will usually price match (as long as it's not a sale price) if you have a preference as far as stores go.

This is if you need one asap. I'm sure there are cheaper places online (outlets, etc.), but they will take longer to get in.

Ended up buying the Bosch 500 series from lowes. Had it on sale for $809 from $899 and I used a 10% coupon as well on top of that. Was planning to install myself as no way I was going to pay $139 but they had a installation rebate (had to purchase installation and get the full $139 back after rebate) so I went with that. They are having one delivered to their store tomorrow and will install on Friday so pretty happy with the quick turnaround. Thanks for everyones input!

Get the third rack, I didn't and I wish I did. The dishwasher is great, drying isn't an issue if you run at night and unload the next evening, although there is a little water in the top of Kyle field cups.

Just moved into a new house, was in previous one 13 years with same dishwasher - noisy as hell but had 3rd rack.

New house has GE Slate - PDT750SMFES - $800

Seems not having 3rd rack allows for larger dishes that we would clean by hand before so I like that.

This dishwasher should be labeled as "silent". I have run it twice now and my wife had no idea it was even on while standing right next to it.
