Does anyone have a recommendation for an installer of hardwood floors and a supplier in the DFW area? We're building in Frisco and are looking at different flooring and installation options. We've started looking at Lowes to get an idea but realize there may be more specialty shops around with better options and pricing.

For those who have recently done this, what can I expect in terms of cost / sqft for install only? I have one quote for 4.50/ft for labor only. Is that a normal rate?

Thank you in advance

Recently had hand scrapped hardwood floors installed in our home renovation over our concrete slab. Cost was $8.00/sq ft for #2 grade redwood 7" wide planks. Quoted $7.25 for 3.25" wide but the wife wanted the larger planks so that's what they installed! They installed a vapor barrier plastic sheating, 5/8" plywood, 15# felt and 7" wide redwood planks. Total sq footage is 1,650.

Great group of guys that previously finished my son's house with 3-1/2" redwood planks. They hand scrapped, sanded and stained the flooring and then added 2 coats of sealer. Once we get done with the balance of the home renovation efforts (hopefully by the end of the month) they'll be back to finish the job by buffing the floors and applying a final seal coat. Looks great so far. I highly recommend them based on what I've seem them do...they are located in Garland and did my son's home in Dallas and ours in Sherman. Let me know if you're interested and I'll provide you with Carlos' phone number.

I've been looking at the Cali Bamboo Natural Eucalyptus floors. Anyone ever install them?

Thanks! Floors look great. Is the $8 price just for the materials or does that include install? Did you purchase materials yourself and then bid out install or do all with one person?

Would love a contact if you could provide it.

That was for the entire turnkey operation that included both the materials and the installation labor. We had them handscrape the wood with the grain, however if you prefer (especially if you have in-house dogs) they can handscrape across the grain. They did that for my son at his home.

The guy's name is Carlos Alvardl and his cell number is 469-446-0977. I'll give him a heads up that you may be calling him. Let him know that Gary B referred you to him...

BTW, he can quote you an install estimate only if you've already purchased your flooring.
