Thanks for the tips on the inspections, looks like final inspections will be in January due to my work/vacation schedule but the bathroom should be done this week! Here are some updates showing it almost there

Part way through tiling and re-floating:

grouted:

the nice part was I had to travel for a week so I hired a guy to work while I was gone and all of the above was done while I was gone, making for a nice little coming home surprise.

and here is what it looks like since then as of two days ago:
Coming in from the bedroom

closet

vanity with new lights going up because one shade was broken on the other's and "we" decided "we" didn't like them

grout being sealed with a color sealant because even the white grout wasn't white enough, stupid bright white tiles (left wall is sealed, right wall isn't):

fixtures in

water closet almost done, just waiting on a toilet seat

and as a huge success the next-door room is finally completely finished off. can't even tell the room used to be 18 inches wider

so the remaining timeline is
tonight: finishing of sealing the grout and marble surfaces, finishing caulking the shower, putting on the last few wall plates for outlets.
tomorrow: shower glass goes in, hang towel bars and closet shelves, and wire in the mini bathroom sound system.
friday: new carpet goes in bedroom (shoulda just rolled it up to start the project, see lesson: "go in with a firm plan"), and we move back into the master suite.

late december/early january: get final inspections and close out all permits.

Looks good.

Any concern with the frameless shower going all the way up to the ceiling? Seems like the shower will get awfully steamy with nowhere to 'vent'.

My thoughts are the same about venting? Is the fixture up there a vent?

That was actually the intent, to basically be able to have a poor man's steam shower. so the ceiling is actually water proofed and tiled just like the walls. there is about an inch gap at the top of the shower door that will let some steam out. My parents did a similar design in their shower (except they actually paid for the steam generator) but put in the transom above the door, but they never have to use it, opening the door after the shower seems to allow enough steam out to not cause any problems.

If the fixture you are refering to is the hole in the ceiling then yes it is an exhaust fan (have to replace the cover though as the existing one wouldn't let the door open, hence the gaping hole). the fixture on the ceiling in the shower is actually a waterproof/marine grade speaker (completely sealed to the tile and the substrate "below" (above?) the tile.

Well, the bathroom is "done", here are the last few pictures
the temporary shelving in the closet until we decide how we want the permanent built ins to be laid out:

project area cleaned up and prepped for new carpet (shoulda pulled it up ahead of time, oops)

new carpet in and moved back in

still have a few mini projects left to do but they will be stand alone projects done on weekends down the road, like painting this cabinet and hanging it over the toilet

and the previously mentioned built in closet shelving

now i guess i gotta get it inspected and close out those permits...

also, if anyone is interest in some vanity lights or mirrors i have some you can have
these are the mirrors:

i need to remeasure but i believe they are 38"x46" and 38"x52"
and these are the lights

Galaxy Lights
one of the two vanity lights is in new condition, the other has one of the globes broken but i think you can order a replacement, we just decided we didn't like them but missed the return window.

Well big sigh of relief, I passed my last inspection yesterday so it is done. One final question though, I completed what seems like all applicable inspections (final plumbing, final electrical, final mechanical, and final structural) but when I log in and look at the project it still says "Final Project Inspection is Outstanding" at the bottom but with no place to schedule an additional inspection.

Am I done, or is there something I am neglecting to do that is required to truly close out my project?
Thanks

I'd gladly take both of the mirrors. Shipping makes it not worthwhile though

Finally Done!

Thanks RTT!

Fife, I could probably get them in a flat rate box but you may not want the mirrors anymore at that point unless you plan to use them for a mosaic...
maybe i'll find a place to donate them, or find something really tall to throw them off of for the satisfying crash at the bottom

Thinking about starting this same project in the fall. Same layout. Where did you get the vanity cabinets? Cost? Do you have an email I can ask you more questions?

Project Source cabinets are the Lowes in-house brand. You can usually find them near the back, they come unfinished.

I've actually never seen bathroom cabinets in Lowes, just kitchen cabinets.

yea, they are all project source kitchen cabinets, put together into a vanity and caulked and painted to look like one single unit

Well 6 years later and its finally officially finished as I used quarantine time to replace those "temporary" shelves with ones a bit nicer looking
