Anyone have a recommendation for a wooden fence contractor in Houston? Got one quote and seems outrageous so I'd like to get another bid.

used rio grande fence, did a good job and they were reasonable.

for a 7 ft privacy with 6 ft cedar pickets and 1 ft rot board i paid about $21 a linear ft.

In case anyone cares, ended up going with Summit Fence South. Getting a privacy fence: 8' cedar pickets with a 1' rot board (so 9' total height), about 80' worth for around $26/ft. Installing in the next week or so.

Got a quote from Houston Fence Company and they were around $34/ft and got another half-assed quote from a more-than-likely undocumented worker and didn't want to go that route for quality purposes. I looked at doing it myself, but after pricing it out, materials were around $14-15/ft and I've got enough to do that my time was worth $11/ft.

Just curious, but are 9' fences allowed in Houston? In Austin the highest you can go is 8' and to get above 6' you have to get approval from your neighbors or a variance from the City if the City is your neighbor (street or easement).

As far as I know, Houston doesn't have any limit. Certain neighborhoods obviously may though. I know the guy next to my office in the Heights has about a 10 footer.

Only issue in Houston that I know of is a permit is required once the fence is above a certain height. 8' I think is the limit.
