How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have Cool Deck around my pool area that has started chipping away in very small portions. I am thinking of repainting the entire cool deck and concrete where the cool deck is missing (small spots). Anybody painted their cool deck before and are there any special things that I need to watch out for or do in prep. I know clean it off to the best of my ability but is a muratic acid wash really necessary?

TIA

1) pressure wash it and use tsp as the cleaner.

2) after it dries patch areas or fill cracks as necessary

3) etch it with acid (opens up the pores and will make coating last longer)

4) 2 coats of solid color water based concrete stain. Paints build up more of a film and will be more slippery.

I have an old deck (built in 1999) that has no structural damange, but is not in great condition. Can powerwashing and painting/staining make it "look like new again," or is it better to just replace the deck?

After pressure washing, ensure that the deck is completely dry before proceeding. If you decide to paint again, check out
storm system. Their exterior finishes increase the life of your deck a great deal.
