What? Home Depot carries the official color licensed by the University. They have a whole catalog of college colors. I know because I bought a can of Aggie Maroon at HD once.

Hmm... When I went in they showed me a small booklet that had alot of different sports teams colors in it. It was actually Glidden now that I double checked. It is supposed to be the official color, but I was curious if anyone had actually used it and could comment on how it looked.

The Glidden paint that is Aggie Maroon is a poor quality. Never again will I buy that crap.

Fair enough. Any advice on what I should buy?

Do you have access to a good quality inkjet printer? Do you have some good quality paper with a finish on it similar to the paint finish you want (i.e. gloss, semi-gloss, flat)?

If so, use Photoshop or some other program that will allow you to enter the hex code for color matching. Use color hex code 500000.

Alternatively, print a swatch for the Pantone match.

Take what you print to the paint store to have it matched, or use the following to see if the paint store can match using it:

If someone can retrieve it...there was a thread on the Gen Board that had the specific numbers for the copyrighted/registered/whatevertheycalledit Aggie Maroon.

I think in the discussion we also posted that Baylor green is really ND green #.......Notre Dame green.

We took an A&M flag into HD one time and after an attempt or two they were able to color match it with success. We had our doubts when the guy opened the can and it was PINK, but a quick test and blast from the hair dryer, and it was Aggie Maroon.

We also used a swatch made from the branding guide for the paint for the bus:

We just had our home repainted. Our contractor use Sherwin Williams all the time because it's durable and because any retouching will match exactly, even if done years later.

Is there any chance you have the color "code" that they put on the paint can at Sherwin Williams? My husband and I wanted to do this but Glidden doesn't appear to make A&M maroon anymore...

8 years ago we tried the Aggie Maroon - looked like Sooner/Bama red. went back and bought a "merlot" color although I don't recall the brand. It was exactly what I think of when I envision Aggie maroon.

I've used "Fine Wine" from SW in the past and been happy with the color. My parents just bought an A&M pool table and the maroon cloth on it matched the Fine Wine color perfectly.

Thanks y'all! We figured out that SW's "Deep Ruby" (#2716) is a really nice match but it's an older color that they don't make sample chips for anymore.

We used the maroon Glidden for an accent wall. Worked great.

TAM Maroon doesn't exist anymore. Just recently bought some SW2716 Deep Ruby to use for some cornhole boards and I think it looks pretty good.

I bought a quart of Aggie Maroon at the SW in Bryan a month or so ago to paint a customer's front door. I just told them what color I wanted, I don't recall the color number/ name. She just made it. I don't know if you are local, but maybe you can call the Bryan store and ask them for the name/ number/ code to have mixed for you. Be warned, it went on very fluorescent / goofy looking. But it dried out just right. Customer was very happy with it.

Bought a Sherwin Williams paint called "Marrooned" which matched A&M.

Sure the Bryan store is going to be a little more tuned in to Aggie maroon than, say, a store in New Hampshire!

My Fort Worth, Tx Home Depot's BEHR paint Rep saved a paint color called "Texas AM". If you happen to be shopping there, ask if they can look this up for you. The barcode number is 6548-1742-4361.

I wanted to circle round on this topic, since I think I found the answer.

I asked my local Home Depot for "Aggie / Texas A&M Maroon" and they said "huh?". Lowes same thing.
I called the College Station Home Depot, and they said "yeah, of course we have Aggie Maroon".

They said "have your Home Depot call us and we'll get it right for you" and they DID!

The College Station Home Depot is 979-595-1188 - but with this photo link below you can probably just have yours reproduce it. I don't know the color perfectly, but it looks CLOSE to me.

I would think you could give any paint place the CMYK colors as well, taken from A&M's brand guide:

C=15 M=100 Y=39 K=69

Sherwin Williams exterior is 0072, Deep Maroon

Sherwin Williams interior is SW2716, Deep Ruby

HEX, CMYK and RGB are meaningless at SW stores.
